Job description

Who We Are
Verily Health is a data platform and technology company purpose-built to power AI-enabled precision health solutions that accelerate research and improve care for individuals and communities. Uniquely positioned at the intersection of technology, data science, and healthcare, Verily transforms multimodal health data into insights, models, and actions that make healthcare more personalized, predictive, and precise.
Description
The Director, Physician Researcher - Evidence Generation & Registries will support the Evidence Generation roadmap, leading clinical and scientific studies, with responsibilities over EvGen study design, AI evaluation, and registry development. Acting as a primary customer-facing expert, this leader will partner with health systems, academic investigators, payers, and pharmaceutical and other industry partners to design rigorous, operationally feasible studies and registries that demonstrate the clinical, operational, and population-level impact of products and programs. The ideal candidate combines deep clinical judgment, methodological fluency in observational and real-world evidence research, and the interpersonal skill to build trust with external partners while advancing Verily's scientific and business priorities.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of registries, observational studies, and pragmatic real-world evidence studies, including protocol development, endpoint selection, statistical analysis planning, and data collection instruments.
  • Shape Verily's evidence generation strategy and standards across clinical programs, digital health products, and care delivery models, aligned with company priorities.
  • Serve as the primary clinical point of contact for external customers, investigators, and partners, presenting study design rationale and representing Verily at conferences and advisory boards.
  • Oversee the responsible use of AI-enabled research tools, evaluating outputs for accuracy, bias, and clinical validity against predefined quality standards.
  • Partner with biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, product, regulatory, and commercial teams, and mentor junior clinical and research staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or equivalent doctoral-level degree with active or eligible medical licensure.
  • 10+ years of experience in evidence generation, real-world evidence, clinical outcomes research, clinical development, or medical affairs in a pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare technology, or CRO environment.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and leading observational studies, registries, or pragmatic clinical trials using real-world data sources (claims, EHR, patient-reported outcomes).
  • Experience in a customer- or partner-facing role, leading scientific discussions with external investigators, KOLs, and institutional stakeholders.
  • Experience evaluating AI-enabled tools in a clinical research, registry, or real-world data context.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MPH, MSCE, or similar) in epidemiology, clinical research, or public health.
  • Authorship of peer-reviewed publications involving observational or registry data, and experience presenting at national conferences.
  • Working knowledge of GCP, FDA real-world evidence guidance, ISPOR/ISPE good practice standards, IRB protocol development, and data privacy requirements (HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Experience mentoring or managing clinical, scientific, research, or analytics talent.
