Job description

Tanque Verde Flea Market is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operational success of the market.

This leadership position is responsible for coordinating facility operations, grounds maintenance, janitorial services, property upkeep, safety, staffing, and operational readiness. The Operations Manager will lead multiple teams while ensuring the market is clean, safe, properly maintained, and fully prepared for customers and sellers each market day.

We are looking for a leader who is comfortable balancing team management with hands-on problem solving. The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and willing to step in alongside the team when needed.

Full weekend availability is required.

What You’ll DoOperations & Facility Leadership
  • Oversee daily operations related to facilities, grounds maintenance, janitorial services, and general property upkeep.
  • Ensure the marketplace is operationally prepared, clean, safe, and ready to open for business.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and identify maintenance, repair, cleanliness, and safety needs.
  • Prioritize operational projects and coordinate materials, staffing, assignments, and completion timelines.
  • Partner with market leadership and the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to ensure operational priorities are completed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce unnecessary costs, and minimize reliance on outside repair services when work can safely and appropriately be completed internally.
Maintenance & Property Upkeep
  • Troubleshoot and assist with repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, refrigeration, HVAC equipment, concession equipment, food carts, restrooms, market equipment, and other facility needs.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and timely repair of market facilities, vehicles, carts, rides, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure team members have the tools, materials, equipment, and supplies necessary to perform their responsibilities.
  • Maintain equipment in safe and operational condition and escalate significant repair needs when appropriate.
Team Leadership
  • Directly supervise team members assigned to Grounds Maintenance, Janitorial, and Facilities operations.
  • Schedule employees to maintain appropriate coverage based on market and operational needs.
  • Assign daily responsibilities and monitor completion and quality of work.
  • Train and coach employees on job responsibilities, equipment use, workplace safety, and operational expectations.
  • Maintain accurate employee time records and support attendance and performance accountability.
  • Lead by example and assist with operational work when business needs require it.
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a strong culture of workplace safety across operational departments.
  • Ensure employees follow established safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate corrective or preventive measures.
  • Ensure required daily inspections, task sheets, maintenance documentation, and ride inspection records are completed accurately and timely.
  • Maintain organized records of required operational and safety documentation.
Market-Day Operations
  • Monitor traffic flow, parking, property conditions, cleanliness, and other operational concerns during market hours.
  • Recognize developing problems and take prompt action before they negatively affect sellers, customers, or employees.
  • Use radios, phones, and other communication tools to coordinate teams and maintain efficient market operations.
  • Respond quickly to unexpected operational or facility needs during busy market days.
  • Support special events, projects, and other operational priorities as needed.
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous operations, facilities, maintenance, property management, or similar leadership experience.
  • Previous experience supervising and developing employees.
  • Strong working knowledge of general facility maintenance and repair.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot operational problems.
  • Familiarity with basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, equipment, or general building maintenance strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with market leadership.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to perform hands-on operational duties when necessary.
  • Reliable attendance and full weekend availability required.
