Job description

Summary:

An Events & Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing the event experience, ensuring exceptional service, and coordinating the activities of the banquet team. The Events & Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in maintaining a high standard of guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with Event Services Manager weekly to review upcoming Banquet Event Orders.
  • Be the main onsite point of contact for the client on the day(s) of the event.
  • Execute small- and large-scale events based on BEOs, floor plans, and other notes created by the Event Services Manager.
  • Oversee setting up of the event space based on floor plans and rentals received from the Event Services Manager.
  • Provide guidance to the banquet staff, including servers, bussers, bartenders, and other front-of-house personnel.
  • Work with Event Services Manager prior to event to confirm staffing needs.
  • Assign duties to team members, and ensure that each team member is well-informed about their duties for the shift.
  • Address any client and guest concerns or special requests promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor and anticipate the needs of guests throughout their event experience.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely entry of BEOs into the point-of-sale system, ensuring accuracy in pricing and itemization.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure seamless communication and prompt service.
  • Check orders for accuracy before they are delivered to the tables.
  • Train new staff on event service standards, menu items, and overall expectations.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Process payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash and electronic transactions as needed.
  • Collect, verify, and reconcile daily sales reports, cash sales, and cash tips; ensure accurate handoff of all funds and documentation to the designated manager at end of shift.
  • Handle special requests or VIP guests with extra attention and care.
  • Address and resolve any issues that arise during service, such as complaints or service delays.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to manage any challenges related to food preparation or timing.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the menu.
  • Ensure that all team members adhere to the restaurant's policies and procedures, including hygiene and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with management to enforce service protocols and quality standards.
  • Act as point of contact for game day/stadium event activation vendors such as bands, radio stations, and cultural associations.
  • Work with management and marketing for activation planning and execution.
  • Stand in as Manager on Duty for restaurant and beer garden operations when necessary

Must Haves:

  • Previous experience as a banquet captain or leadership within the events and catering industry.
  • Knowledge of POS and proper cash/credit handling
  • Knowledge of food safety and health regulations
  • Customer-centric
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
