Summary

The Operations Manager - Production Events is a people-focused leadership role responsible for the end-to-end management of freelance technicians and independent contractors supporting Dome Productions' live event operations. This position is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is passionate about workforce planning, talent development, freelancer engagement, and organizational effectiveness. You will play a key role in shaping a positive, inclusive freelance experience while aligning workforce strategies with business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment of freelance event production labour across North America
  • Build and sustain a qualified freelance talent pipeline
  • Forecast labour demand and support workforce planning strategies
  • Ensure equitable, values-driven hiring practices
  • Oversee recruitment, evaluation, training, assignment, and supervision of freelancers

Onboarding, Development & Retention

  • Design onboarding processes including deal memos, expectations, and policies
  • Identify skill gaps and implement targeted training programs
  • Develop engagement, retention, and career progression initiatives
  • Support succession planning and identify high-potential talent

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Act as primary contact for freelancer relations and conflict resolution
  • Foster inclusive, respectful workplace culture
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of policies

Performance Management

  • Establish and oversee performance evaluation processes
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and development support
  • Address performance issues and implement improvement plans

Compensation, Payroll & Compliance

  • Oversee fair and competitive contractor compensation frameworks
  • Review and approve payroll, invoices, and expenses
  • Ensure compliance with policies, agreements, and regulations
  • Partner on travel guidelines and cost control

Strategic HR Partnership

  • Collaborate with leadership on workforce strategies
  • Support change management and organizational effectiveness initiatives
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with Scheduling, Production, and Technical teams
  • Build strong internal and freelance community relationships
  • Travel across Canada as requiredย 
Critical Qualifications
  • 5+ years in HR, talent management, or workforce operations
  • Strong employee relations, recruitment, and performance management experience
  • Experience with freelance/contingent workforce (preferred)
  • Broadcast or production knowledge (preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong organizational and decision-making ability
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
  • High accountability and sound judgment
  • Collaborative leadership style
  • Bilingualism is an asset
  • Flexible hours and willingness to travelย 

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.ย

Total earning range: $81,600 - $122.400.ย ย The advertised salary range may vary slightly as it is based on the company's current salary structure, which may be revised by the company, from time to time, at its sole discretion. The agreed upon salary may also vary from the advertised salary ranges depending on several factors, such as the candidate's qualifications, experience and internal equity
The salary range above includes an Annual Incentive Plan objective which represent 7.5% of your Base Salary based on the achievement of individual and corporate objectives; The Annual Achievement Incentive Plan ("AIP") payment is calculated based on a formula that takes into account several factors, including, without limitation, corporate and individual performance measures. The AIP payment is conditional upon meeting all of the AIP's eligibility requirements. The AIP is subject to modification by the Company from time to time, at its sole discretion to better reflect evolving business structure, goals and strategies.ย 

For work arrangements that are 'Hybrid', successful candidates must be based in Canada and report to a set Dome office for a minimum of 3 days a week.ย  Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, Dome offers flexibility in work hours based on the business needs.
