DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

for the position of

MARKETING MANAGER

CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt

PAY BAND: $80,000 - $90,000 annually

HomeState is a Tex Mex Kitchen in Southern California. We serve tacos, queso, brisket, and margaritas, but more than that, we serve people. We treat everyone with warm hospitality that makes them feel at home. No matter where you're from. Everything we do - from how we greet each other to how we show up in our communities - is rooted in that belief. Hospitality comes first. Tacos come second.

The Marketing Manager plays a critical role in making sure HomeState shows up as one consistent voice, everywhere. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this role owns the execution of marketing campaigns, guest communication, and creative expression across channels. You'll help translate HomeState's voice and point of view into work that feels human, warm, and unmistakably us. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves both doing the work and building the system - executing today's campaigns while helping set the foundation for how marketing scales tomorrow.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Guest First: You represent HomeState to our guests - online, in inboxes, and in our restaurants. Every message you touch should make people feel welcomed, seen, and at home.
  • Action-Oriented: You don't wait to be told twice. You plan, execute, and follow through with energy and care. You're comfortable moving quickly, adjusting as needed, and meeting deadlines without losing quality.
  • Resilient & Adaptable: Things change. You stay calm, solutions-focused, and grounded when they do. You can troubleshoot without drama and keep momentum moving forward.
  • Collaborative: You work well across teams - with leadership, restaurant managers, creatives, and partners - and believe the best work happens together.
  • Sound Judgement: You make thoughtful decisions that balance brand integrity, guest experience, and operational reality.
  • Ownership & Results: You take projects from idea to execution to measurement. You care about outcomes, not just output.
  • Accountability: You own your work, track progress, and follow through. You're comfortable holding yourself and others to a high standard.
  • Clear Communicator: You communicate openly and effectively, adapting your style depending on who you're talking to - from restaurant teams to creative partners and leadership.

STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES & OVERSIGHT
(~75% of role)

  • Partner with the Director of Marketing on campaign strategy, creative development, and photography direction
  • Ideate, plan, execute, and manage marketing campaigns across email, social, digital and in-store channels.
  • Lead social media strategy, content creation, and management across all platforms, including planning, shooting, editing,  scheduling and engagement.
  • Write and edit guest-facing communications in HomeState's voice.
  • Support creation and editing of collateral and digital assets including images and graphics.
  • Track and report marketing KPIs, campaign performance and guest engagement metrics
  • Document workflows, processes, and brand standards
  • Support marketing needs tied to community events, partnerships, and restaurant openings
  • Take on additional marketing projects as assigned.

Guest Acquisition & Visibility
(~25% of role)

  • Search Optimization: Manage and continually optimize HomeState's Google Business Profile to drive visibility in "near me" searches. Keep hours, address data, and photography fresh and accurate across all locations.
  • Influencer & Media Partnerships: Identify and cultivate relationships with local food creators, bloggers, and press outlets. Coordinate partnerships that generate authentic buzz - especially around new openings, limited-time offerings, and seasonal moments.
  • Digital Presence Auditing: Regularly audit HomeState's website and digital touchpoints to ensure they're mobile-friendly, fast-loading, and feature accurate, appealing menu content that converts new visitors into first-time guests.
  • Promotional Campaigns: Design strategic offers, limited-time events, and first-visit incentives (e.g., happy hour promotions, seasonal specials) that lower the barrier for new guests and drive trial.
  • Community Outreach: Support restaurant leaders in their Local Restaurant Marketing efforts by ensuring their toolkits are actively updated and refined

  • Demonstrated experience as a social media content creator and manager, with a portfolio of platform-native content across Instagram, TikTok, or similar channels
  • Graphic design skills, with basic proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms to produce on-brand visual assets
  • Savvy with marketing tech stacks, including familiarity with tools such as email platforms, scheduling tools, analytics dashboards, and project management software
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team where priorities can shift
