Role Overview

The Internal Events Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a comprehensive portfolio of internal events that strengthen employee engagement, foster an inclusive culture, and build community across the organization. This role leads events supporting heritage months and DEI initiatives, staff morale, celebration and recognition programs, community engagement efforts, and firmwide communications events such as town halls and retreats. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of internal events, including heritage month and DEI programming, employee appreciation and morale events, such as holiday celebrations, happy hours and other social events, community engagement activities, retirements, birthdays, anniversaries, and firmwide meetings such as town halls or leadership retreats.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including HR team, Community and Belonging, Marketing, Communications, and leadership, to align events with organizational values, strategic goals, and cultural priorities.
  • Develop annual and event-specific plans, timelines, and budgets; manage expenses and vendors to ensure high-quality delivery within approved budgets.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal event logistics, including venue selection/conference rooms, catering, audiovisual support, transportation, accessibility, and safety considerations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with external speakers and content partners to deliver high quality internal programming, when applicable.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts related to event services, ensuring compliance with firm policies and procurement requirements.
  • Oversee event communications in partnership with internal teams, including invitations, promotional materials, registration and attendance, and post-event feedback and engagement metrics to inform continuous improvement.
  • Incorporate inclusive, culturally responsive, and accessible practices into all events, ensuring a welcoming experience for all employees.
  • Provide on-site event leadership and coordination as needed, including evening or occasional weekend events.
  • Maintain event calendars, process documentation, and reporting materials. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in event management, communications, hospitality, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience planning and managing internal or corporate events with multiple stakeholders, in a law firm or other professional services environment. 
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and service-oriented approach. 
  • Experience supporting DEI-focused programming or employee engagement initiatives. 
  • Budget management and vendor negotiation experience. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with event management, conference services or registration platforms is a plus.

The role is based in our Washington, DC office. This position is primarily office-based, with regular on-site presence required for events. Occasional evening or weekend work is expected to support scheduled programs and firm events. The base annual pay range for this role is between $125,000 - $145,000. The base pay to be offered will vary and depend on skills and qualifications, experience, location and will also take into account internal equity. A full range of medical, financial and/or other benefits dependent on the position will also be offered.
