Position Purpose: The Flint Hills Discovery Center is seeking team members to assist with special events and rentals. Duties include setting up table and chairs, monitoring events, and breaking down and cleaning post event. Managing small rental events on your own, such as showers and birthday parties. Duties would also include, but are not limited to, greeting renter, showing the space, confirming setup is acceptable, answering questions, monitoring exhibits and interacting with guests, and making changes as needed. The hours are highly variable from week to week, depending upon the number of events and rentals taking place. 


Job Duties

  • Provides excellent customer service and possess a service philosophy which reflects the mission of Parks & Recreation Department. 
  • Assists with special events and rentals which includes set up, monitoring events, break down and cleaning post event.   
  • Follows directions and communicates effectively.  
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative professional working relationships with others; individually and in a team environment. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  


Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Additional Qualifications 

  • Must be 18 years of age. 
  • Available weekday evenings and weekends until 1:00AM.

  • This is not a KPERS covered position. 

Physical Demands/Work Environment 

  • Work is performed at assigned location(s). 
  • Work is performed in a potentially noisy environment. 
  • Stand, walk, sit, use hands, handle, feel, speak, hear, climb stairs, push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
