The Agency You'll Join:
The New York City Mayor's Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. The administration is leading the fight in making the city more affordable, reducing inequality, improving public safety, ensuring delivery of efficient and effective services, and working to make New York City's economy stronger. The Team You'll Work With:
The Mayor's Office of Mass Engagement (OME) is responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and executing on engagement that reaches the masses of everyday New Yorkers. We engage New Yorkers in shaping policy outcomes, demystifying government, and ensuring that the government remains accountable to serving the people of this great City. Our work is designed as a long-term project - we are building the power of everyday New Yorkers, and we are building a City that works for all of us.
The Problems You'll Solve:
The Office of Mass Engagement Events Team is tasked with producing innovative, joyful, and highly professional events that help demystify government, provide on-ramps into organizing projects, and celebrate the cultural fabric of New York City. As an Events Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Producing purposeful, engaging events that build people's trust in government, build connections between New Yorkers, and create meaningful opportunities for feedback and follow-up.
- Leading event logistical production including location and vendor sourcing, agency production partner coordination, expense tracking, and project management.
- Managing Event Leads, seasonal interns, and volunteers as required.
- Supporting the development of a thoughtful and personalized guest experience in coordination with OME's Faith & Community Liaisons, including invitation management, guest list cultivation, relationship-building activities, and on-site hospitality.
- Other duties as required.
About You:
Event professionals come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences; there is no single course of study or expertise that is required to do well! You're most likely to succeed in this role if you are:
- You are organized, meticulous, and don't get overwhelmed by many moving pieces.
- You are oriented towards customer service or hospitality, and you will go out of your way to make sure a guest or participant has a great experience.
- You are a creative problem solver who views constraints as an opportunity instead of an obstacle.
- You are curious and comfortable asking questions.
- You may be especially well-suited to this role if you have experience in creative event production, theater/live performance events, training and facilitation, or hospitality.
