Events Internship

Bring Events to life. Learn by doing. Build experience in nonprofit event management.

This internship is designed for students or individuals interested in gaining practical, real-world experience in event planning, fundraising, and community engagement. Interns will work alongside HumanKind's Development and Communications team to help coordinate events that support our mission while learning behind-the-scenes work that makes successful events possible.

This is a structured learning opportunity focused on professional development, mentorship, and exposure to nonprofit event planning from concept through execution.

What Youโ€™ll Learn & Experience

  • Gain hands-on experience supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising and community events.
  • Assist with event logistics, including vendor coordination, registrations, scheduling, and event timelines.
  • Participate in event setup, breakdown, and day-of operations, helping ensure a positive experience for attendees, volunteers, sponsors, and staff.
  • Learn how nonprofit events support fundraising, community outreach, and donor engagement.
  • Assist with volunteer coordination, guest check-in, and participant communications.
  • Gain experience creating event materials, signage, and promotional content using Microsoft Office and other communication tools.
  • Help maintain event records, registrations, supply inventories, and administrative documentation.
  • Observe how budgets, sponsorships, timelines, and project management contribute to successful events.
  • Strengthen professional skills including organization, communication, customer service, teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in post-event evaluations to identify successes and opportunities for future improvement.
