Overview
Site EHS professional responsible for instilling a superior safety culture through construction for employees and contractors, supporting site TCOS initiatives, and maintaining Safety and Environmental compliances
Responsibilities
  • Attend supervisor and crew meetings, support and occasionally lead toolbox talks and monthly safety training
  • Ensure regular (daily) visibility with employees in their department and act as a resource to offer guidance for performing tasks safely
  • Build training with focus on TCOS concepts
  • Promote TCOS concepts & drive initiatives outlined in the division safety plan. Champion improved safety practices with Sinton Employees
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety controls
  • Coordinating, conducting, and tracking monthly safety training/events
  • Participation in New Hire orientation and training
  • Safety alert distribution and preparation
  • Perform safety audits and walk-throughs and communicate the results
  • JSA, LOTOTO, SOP, and Risk Assessment development and revisions
  • Incident investigation, review, and follow-up.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Excellent computer skills, preferably in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to skillfully organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects
  • Highly effective communication skills
  • Travel requirements - intercompany, education, & benchmarking
  • Background in Environmental Compliance

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in safety or a safety-related field and/or 3 years of experience in a safety-related field.
  • Construction Safety Experience
  • Experience with Combustible dust

Steel Dynamics is one of the largest and most diversified domestic steel producers and metals recyclers in the United States, with an estimated steelmaking and coating capacity of approximately 13 million tons, and facilities located throughout the United States and in Mexico. We operate using a circular manufacturing model, producing lower-carbon-emission, quality steel using electric arc furnace (EAF) technology with recycled ferrous scrap as the primary input. Our circular economy is powered by our three primary operating platforms: steel, metals recycling, and steel fabrication. Our steel operations produce steel products, including hot roll, cold roll, and coated sheet steel, structural steel beams and shapes, rail, engineered special-bar-quality steel, cold finished steel, merchant bar products, and specialty steel sections. Our metals recycling operations collect and process ferrous and nonferrous scrap from manufacturing and end-of-life items, such as automobiles, appliances, and machinery. This processed scrap is then sold to end-users for reuse, including our EAF steel mills, which produce new steel from the scrapped material. We sell a meaningful amount of steel to our own steel fabrication operations that in turn produce and sell structural steel joist and deck building systems to consumers.
