Job description

Position Summary: Off the Grid’s Onsite Catering Event Producer (OCEP) is a part-time position, which drives the on-site execution and event logistics of our mobile food catering events. This position partners closely with a team of Catering Event Producers, ensuring a smooth transition for clients moving from the planning, production, and post-production phase, and reports into the Assistant Catering Production Manager.

The ideal candidate is logistically minded and detailed oriented. With a charismatic approach, you emphasize and lead with hospitality in your communication, enabling you to build trusting client relationships and provide exceptional service. You handle pressure with efficiency and grace, are able to change gears quickly and resolve unexpected issues/circumstances, and view challenges as an opportunity to improve and exceed client expectations.

OCEP’s hours are dependent on the season but can range from 8-30 hours/week. A flexible schedule (including nights and weekends) is required to support the on-site execution of our Bay Area catering events.

Key Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

*Pre-Production*

Participate in Pre-Production Handoff Meetings with Catering Event Producer to discuss event details including, but not limited to client and venue contacts, permitting and inspections, event layout and timelines, rentals, service staff, and potential overages.

Onsite Execution

*Attend and supervise events including, but not limited to:

  • Vendor management and parking
  • Rental management
  • Setup and breakdown
  • Onsite service staff
  • Interior buffets and passed service
  • Communication with client, venue managers, and inspectors

Post-Production

This position may be required to participate in post-event debriefs with Catering Event Producer, Catering Production Manager, and/or Catering Sales Manager Job.

Requirements/Qualifications:

*Years of Related Professional Experience:2+ years of event planning and/or catering experience is preferred

*Management Experience: *At least 1 year of experience supervising support or service staff is preferred

*Educational/Position Requirements: *bachelor's degree is a plus

*Travel (%): *90%

*Other: *

  • Must have a reliable source of transportation to and from home, office, and events.
  • Experience in Onsite Event Production and problem resolution

*Availability Requirements: *This is an hourly, part-time position that requires a Monday through Friday schedule with nights and weekends as necessary to support catering events. Hours vary per season; up to 20 hours in the Spring and up to 30 hours in the Fall.

While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing a computer terminal. In addition, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
