Position Summary:
HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Production Manager to join our Huntsville Production Team in support of U.S. Army and U.S. Navy aviation and training system production efforts. In this role, the Production Manager will lead and coordinate the design, development, assembly, integration, and delivery of U.S. Army Aviation Test Systems and multiple Navy Shore-Based Training, Engineering & Development Support (SBEDS) Part Task Trainer (PTT) systems. This position provides critical production leadership, ensuring all PTT and aviation system builds meet engineering standards, quality benchmarks, and schedule commitments, directly contributing to fleet readiness, operational effectiveness, and mission success

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise employees responsible for assembling component parts into subassemblies, finished assemblies, packaging, and completed units.
  • Manage the production lifecycle of multiple PTT systems, ensuring build accuracy, configuration compliance, and on-time delivery.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules, resource plans, and detailed build instructions.
  • Coordinate with engineering, logistics, quality assurance, procurement, and program management teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Monitor production risks, resolve operational and scheduling issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and mentor production personnel, including technicians and engineering support staff.
  • Support system testing, acceptance events, configuration management, and final delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, security, and quality standards throughout all production activities.
  • Ability to manage experienced professionals (e.g., engineers, scientists, analysts) who operate with significant autonomy in their assignments.
  • Capable of leading one or more production sections, work centers, or an entire department.
  • Strong understanding of technical data packages, BOMs, drawings, system integration, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Effective communicator with strong organizational, planning, and leadership abilities.
  • Skilled in resolving operational conflicts, schedule constraints, and cross-functional coordination challenges

Minimum Qualifications
  • 6 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant progressive experience.
  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing.
  • Minimum qualification of 12-15 years of direct manufacturing and production leadership
  • Experience developing and managing production schedules, budgets, staffing, and resource allocations
  • Experience supporting systems integration, testing, and production readiness activities.
  • Must have ERP experience.
  • Experience supervising cross-functional teams of technicians, assemblers, planners, quality control, and configuration management personnel.
  • Strong organizational, communications, and problem solving skills
  • Manufacturing knowledge must include lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, risk management, ISO 9001 standards.
  • Advanced understanding of capacity planning, production scheduling, labor optimization, inventory control and forecasting long lead items across multiple vendors.
  • Secret Clearance with the US DOD requried at hire

Preferred Requirements
  • 5-10 years experience implementing ERP, MES, or digital manufacturing.
  • Past experience managing competing priorities during production disruptions, supply shortages, equipment failures or workforce contstraints
  • Experience with Navy or DoD training systems, part task trainers, or simulators.
  • PMP certification
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFARS requirements in government contracting

Physical Requirements
  • May be required to visit job site in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level.
