The Manager, Event Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for a team of Travel Directors in a fast-paced, travel-intensive environment. This role focuses on people leadership, workforce scheduling, onboarding, and inter-departmental collaboration to ensure successful event execution and employee growth. The Manager is responsible for maintaining team engagement, driving operational excellence, and optimizing scheduling decisions. This role also plays a key part in continuous improvement initiatives and aligning resources with business priorities.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 10-18 Travel Directors, maintaining engagement across a geographically dispersed, on-call workforce

  • Project management and support of Travel Director scheduling, aligning workforce with program requirements, skillsets, and business priorities

  • Partner inter-departmentally with Event Management, Sales, and leadership, etc. to collaborate on successful event operations

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, and operational guidelines while serving as a resource for real-time issue resolution

  • Support onboarding, interviewing, and training of Travel Directors, including development of training content and online modules

  • Lead or contribute to special projects and continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging tools such as AI/Copilot

  • Manage operational processes including expense approvals, visa/work permit coordination, and workforce readiness tracking

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • 2+ years of on-site event operations experience as a Maritz Travel Director

  • Event management and/or project management experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Advanced Excel proficiency and ability to leverage tools and technology to improve performance

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong service orientation with a passion for hospitality and team collaboration

Nice To Have
  • Experience with workforce scheduling and resource planning

  • Familiarity with event operations systems, tools, and reporting

  • Experience as a people leader or delivering training programs

  • Exposure to AI tools or process automation initiatives

  • Experience working with global travel programs, including visa/work permit processes

Working Logistics & Things You Should Know
  • This is a remote role that requires remaining highly accessible, both during and outside standard working hours (including weekends and holidays).

  • This position requires up to 5-10% travel, including potential on-site event support during peak periods
