Work Environment

This position is fully remote but closely integrated with a team of professionals operating within our outpatient office structure in Collinsville, Illinois. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough intake assessments and screenings for students to identify mental health needs and prioritize appropriate treatment plans tailored to their unique situations.
  • Deliver short-term individual counseling sessions as well as urgent crisis interventions, equipping students with coping strategies and resources to navigate various emotional challenges.
  • Facilitate engaging group therapy sessions and workshops focused on enhancing student resilience, addressing anxiety, and fostering self-advocacy, among other pertinent topics.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors, residential life staff, and student organizations to create a holistic support system that ensures comprehensive care for each student.
  • Participate actively in outreach initiatives, such as mental health awareness campaigns and campus wellness events, to promote the importance of mental well-being.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation adhering to ethical and legal guidelines, while also utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems to track progress and outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our primary focus is on the transformative experiences of college students who often face a myriad of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, stress, and interpersonal issues. The counselor will be skilled in addressing these diverse concerns, employing evidence-based therapeutic techniques while acknowledging the unique pressures associated with collegiate life.

Qualifications
  • Possession of an active, unrestricted license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Clinical Psychologist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • A relevant advanced degree, either a master's or doctorate in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of college students' mental health issues, along with a commitment to advocacy for their mental well-being.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal capabilities, vital for establishing rapport with students and collaborating with a multi-faceted campus community.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, implementing brief therapy models and evidence-based practices in a university counseling center context.

Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of two years of post-graduate experience in mental health counseling, specifically with a focus on youth or young adults.
