Event Design Manager information

What is an event design manager?

An Event Design Manager is a professional responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and executing the visual and experiential aspects of events. They work closely with clients and event planners to create cohesive themes, layouts, décor, lighting, and overall ambiance that align with the event’s objectives. Their role often includes managing budgets, sourcing vendors, overseeing setup, and ensuring that every element contributes to a memorable and seamless guest experience. Strong creative, organizational, and communication skills are essential for this position.

How does an event design manager typically collaborate with vendors and internal teams during the planning process?

As an Event Design Manager, you'll frequently coordinate with both internal stakeholders—such as marketing, sales, and logistics teams—and external vendors like florists, lighting specialists, and furniture rental companies. This role requires clear communication to ensure your creative vision aligns with the event’s objectives and practical constraints. Regular meetings, site visits, and detailed mood boards or design proposals are common tools used to keep everyone aligned throughout the planning process. Building strong relationships with trusted vendors and fostering teamwork internally are key to managing changes smoothly and delivering a cohesive event experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an event design manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Event Design Manager, you need expertise in event planning, creative design, budgeting, and vendor management, often supported by a background in hospitality, design, or event management. Familiarity with design software (such as Adobe Creative Suite), event management platforms, and CAD tools is commonly required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills help you collaborate with clients and guide teams effectively. These skills ensure visually impactful, well-executed events that meet client objectives and stay within budget.

ShelfGenie of Louisville

Louisville, KY

Part-time

Re-posted 16 days ago

Job description

ShelfGenie of Louisville is growing, and we're looking for a driven, people-loving Sales Designer who isn't just great at closing — but who thrives on finding the right clients too. If you're a self-starter who loves connecting with people and wants to be rewarded for your hustle, this role was built for you.

A ShelfGenie Designer meets with clients in their homes to design premium, custom storage solutions for their entire homes. We are the premier source for custom pull-out shelving solutions that genuinely change how people use their kitchens, bathrooms, and more. We also provide custom storage solutions for closets, mudrooms, laundry, and more.

What Makes This Role Different This isn't just an appointment-setter role — and it's not just a closer role. We're looking for someone who can do both. You'll prospect and generate your own leads and run the in-home consultations. In return, we're offering a significantly higher commission to reflect that added value and effort.

What We Offer

  • Industry-leading commission of 15%-20% — because we know what it takes to find and close clients
  • Flexibility to create your own schedule — perfect for part-time, a side hustle, or semi-retirement
  • Full training and certification through ShelfGenie University
  • One-on-one coaching and ongoing support from an amazing team
  • Selling tools provided: 3D design software, CRM system, and demo kit
  • The backing of a large, trusted North American brand

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and generate your own leads through networking, referrals, community outreach, and other creative channels
  • Manage and perform in-home consultations, providing custom storage solutions tailored to each client's needs
  • Educate clients on ShelfGenie products, demonstrate samples, and highlight features and benefits using our 3D design software
  • Close sales and deliver an outstanding customer experience from first contact through follow-up
  • Build ongoing client relationships that generate referrals and repeat business
  • Turn clients' frustrations with their cabinets & storage spaces into sources of real joy!

Who You Are

  • Honest, super-nice, and genuinely love helping people
  • A self-motivated go-getter who doesn't wait for leads to come to you
  • Comfortable with outreach — whether that's talking to neighbors, connecting at community events, or reaching out via social media
  • Proven sales ability with a track record of hitting goals
  • Strong communicator with an interest in design and organization
  • Tech-savvy enough to use a CRM, email, and design software
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license with a clean record, a computer, and a cell phone with internet access

This Is a Great Fit For: Interior Designers, Professional Organizers, Real Estate Agents, Kitchen or Remodel Specialists, Retail Sales Veterans, or anyone who loves people, design, and being in control of their own income.
