This includes making bids and booking venue spaces, negotiating rates for items needed during the event, hiring staff, finding decorations, coordinating entertainment, and arranging transportation for guests. The ultimate goal is to ensure all the details come together to create an event that meets the client’s expectations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Event Coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Event Coordinator, you need strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and experience in planning and executing events, often supported by a degree in hospitality, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with event management software, budgeting tools, and registration systems is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills help you manage vendors, clients, and on-site teams effectively. These competencies ensure seamless event execution, client satisfaction, and the ability to handle unexpected challenges during events.

What are some common challenges faced by Event Coordinators during the planning process, and how can they be addressed?

Event Coordinators often encounter challenges such as last-minute changes, tight deadlines, and managing multiple vendors simultaneously. Effective communication, thorough contingency planning, and strong organizational skills are essential for overcoming these obstacles. Building good relationships with vendors and team members also helps ensure smooth coordination and quick problem-solving when unexpected issues arise. Staying adaptable and maintaining a positive attitude can make a significant difference in successfully handling these challenges.

Job description

Craft WOW Moments. Inspire Action. Drive Conservation.
At Tanganyika Wildlife Park, we go beyond caring for animals. We create once-in-a-lifetime experiences that make you say "WOW," inspiring generations to become conservation champions.
If you're passionate about creating unforgettable events, driven by purpose, and believe that one incredible experience can change a life - this is where you belong.
Why Tanganyika?
A Front Row Seat to Conservation in Action
We're not a zoo. We're an experience. At Tanganyika, you'll be part of a team pioneering interactive conservation experiences that educate, engage, and empower. We do conservation a bit different - our focus is conservation one person at a time. Making people aware of species, getting them interested, and then calling them to action.
Work That Gives You Goosebumps
From coordinating elegant weddings surrounded by wildlife to helping execute unforgettable corporate events and private experiences, your work here is anything but ordinary. This is the kind of place where work and wonder collide.
Real Growth. Real Mentorship. Real Impact.
Whether you're starting your career or seeking your next challenge, Tanganyika invests in you. We care about you beyond the workplace with initiatives to help our team reduce consumer debt, an employee assistance program, and our Dream Manager program - because we want you to become the best YOU.
A Culture That Cares - For Animals and Humans
We lead with love, and it shows. Our team is fiercely supportive, deeply passionate, and united by a shared purpose. And yes, your "co-workers" might include sloths, rhinos, and giraffes.
Purpose That Reaches Beyond the Park
Every celebration, fundraiser, corporate gathering, and private event hosted at Tanganyika helps create meaningful connections between people, wildlife, and conservation. The experiences you help create don't just make memories - they inspire wonder, spark curiosity, and support a mission bigger than ourselves.
Love creating memorable experiences and bringing events to life? As our Event Coordinator, you'll be at the center of some of the most exciting experiences at the park.
From coordinating weddings and private events to communicating with vendors and ensuring flawless execution day-of, you'll play a key role in creating seamless, high-energy experiences our guests will never forget. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, love organization, and enjoy making magic happen behind the scenes, we'd love to have you join our wild team.
What You Bring

  • Passion for creating memorable guest experiences
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
