Job description

Overview
Lutron Electronics Co., Inc has an immediate opening for a Quality Technician at our facility in Ashland, VA. In this position, you would be a key part of the Shading Solutions Manufacturing team. A successful Quality Technician will have a customer focused attitude, help drive continuous improvement projects, be a self-starter, and be able to build a culture of quality.
As part of our 2nd Shift team, you will have the opportunity to build a career with a technology company by working in a hands-on environment. You will utilize your technical skills to troubleshoot and analyze defects of complex textile and mechanical systems on the manufacturing line. To succeed in this position, you should be able to generate sustainable corrective actions through root cause analysis in real time, document process improvement guides, and escalate your findings as necessary. Quality Technicians work within all production departments while performing a wide range of responsibilities to support our manufacturing operations. As part of your career development, you will rotate through our multiple departments, gaining exposure to the broad range of equipment, processes, and technologies employed in our products. To assist with your career development, we offer an education reimbursement program so that you can attend college courses to prepare yourself for additional responsibilities and opportunities within the company.
Responsibilities
  • Assist production teams with floor calls and guidance to ensure products meet the needs of our worldwide customers
  • Perform analysis of failures with in-depth investigation notes to a suspected root cause
  • Learn new processes and procedures quickly to ensure quality on innovative products and materials
  • Identify process improvement projects and work towards completing assigned projects (CI projects)
  • Provide training and mentoring for Technicians and auditors
  • Collaborate with other departments in various improvement activities, investigations, and knowledge sharing (i.e. Tier meetings, safety concerns, tooling updates, etc.)
  • Use proven math and computer skills to provide insight into quality results and metrics

Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field
  • Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required
  • 1+ years' experience in quality or related production field (preferred)
  • Ability to work 2nd shift (Monday - Friday 2pm-10:30pm)
  • Demonstrated competency in repairs, electronic circuit testing, and troubleshooting, at the component level. Be able to identify root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Strong technical computer system (hardware & software) knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite. SQL experience is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work on evening shifts
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions in English
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to stand for extended period of time
  • Ability to move to surrounding workstations
