Job description

Position Overview

The Display Maker is responsible for ensuring all displays, graphics and collateral products are produced through internal and external resources. The position manages the receipt of materials for builds and then produces the marketing components within agreed upon timelines and specifications. The Display Maker also helps manage raw and finished goods inventories including the packaging and shipping of Marketing and Merchandising tools. Finished goods are customer facing therefore the Display Makers are ultimately ambassadors of the Quaker brand.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Construct and assemble displays and product samples for showrooms and sales personnel: cutting, machining, assembly, product and graphic installation
  • Paint, stain, and complete general finish carpentry
  • Operate a wide range of woodworking and fabrication equipment
  • Understand Quaker's Marketing's visual strategy
  • Gather & maintain an understanding of Quaker's product offering: Operation, Components and Installation
  • Work with Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing to determine and apply best building practices
  • Procure raw materials and arrange transportation with outside vendors when necessary
  • Carefully inspect and scrutinize all finished products leaving the department
  • Package displays for shipping
  • Display setup and tear down
  • Work with other Display Makers to meet agreed upon service level for order completion and shipping
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner
  • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
  • Plan & prioritize display build activities.
  • Complete assigned tasks or projects in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct management or supervisory responsibilities

Safety

Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment; report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow job-specific safety requirements such as Ladder Safety, Power and Manual Tool Safety, Safe Lift, Scaffold Safety and Safe Product Handling Guidelines. The individual must follow all safe driving laws.

Travel

Approximately 15% travel is required within domestic United States in support of QWP showroom initiatives & events.

Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Has a baseline understanding of standard build practices with a variety of different material types
  • Safe and proficient usage of hand and power tools such as a table saw, band saw, router, and pneumatic fastener equipment
  • Valid Class E driver's license & a safe driving record
  • Can accurately read a tape measure
  • Has a mechanical comprehension of windows and doors
  • Has the ability to read and understand Engineering Designs and follow installation schematics
  • Understands Convention and Display Exhibition Requirements
  • Understands Basic Mathematics
  • Can visualize how a 2-D drawing is transformed into a 3-D structure
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook

Preferred Education and Experience

The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.

  • High School Diploma with a desire for further education in engineering or related field
  • Background in construction work with window and door products desirable

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

  • stand for prolonged periods

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to climactic variations, various levels of vibration, and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment may require hearing protection.
