What is an evening remote project manager?

An Evening Remote Project Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing projects, coordinating teams, and ensuring tasks are completed on schedule during evening hours, all while working remotely. These managers use digital tools to communicate with team members, track project progress, and resolve any issues that arise outside of traditional business hours. This role is ideal for organizations that operate across multiple time zones or require project support beyond the typical workday. Evening Remote Project Managers must be organized, adaptable, and skilled at virtual collaboration.

Familiarity with project management software such as Asana, Trello, or Microsoft Project, and proficiency with remote communication tools like Zoom or Slack, are typically required. Excellent time management, self-motivation, and effective virtual communication are vital soft skills for coordinating teams across different time zones and maintaining productivity. Job description

Job Title: Technical Project Manager (TPM)
Location: Remote (Work from home eligible)
Company Overview: Celerity is a consulting firm specializing in utilities and energy sectors. We empower organizations by converting complex data into actionable intelligence to mitigate risk, optimize assets, and maximize project outcomes. Our background and expertise enable us to drive and deliver transformation and operational excellence for our clients.
Position Overview: The ideal candidate brings over 10 years of hands-on project delivery experience in consulting roles across system implementation, data integration, enterprise platform rollouts (e.g., ERP, EAM, FSM), and digital transformation initiatives. This role demands strong leadership, deep industry knowledge, and technical fluency to drive results in complex client environments. As part of our growing consulting practice, the TPM will serve as the linchpin between business stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party vendors—ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality goals are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership:

  • Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of implementation or transformation programs.
  • Develop detailed project charters, work breakdown structures, and execution plans aligned with client goals and transformation roadmaps.
  • Manage cross-functional delivery teams including solution architects, developers, analysts, testers, and change managers.
  • Apply structured methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid) to manage timelines, risk, quality, and dependencies.
Technical Oversight & Integration:
  • Oversee system configuration, integration, and deployment activities for platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, Maximo, Oracle, OverIT FSM, ESRi GIS or similar.
  • Coordinate with vendor teams to ensure smooth interface design, data migration, and cutover planning.
  • Support solution validation through UAT oversight, defect triaging, and issue resolution.
Risk & Issue Management
  • Proactively identify project risks, issues, and change requests; implement mitigation and escalation strategies.
  • Maintain project health metrics and governance documentation (RAIDs logs, dependency trackers, change control).

Financial & Resource Management
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, resource allocations, and vendor contracts in collaboration with internal operations.
  • Ensure project profitability and compliance with client contractual obligations and timelines.
Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance
  • Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned, feedback loops, and project retrospectives.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC standards and compliance requirements (e.g., NERC, FERC, ISO, etc.) in regulated environments.
Change Management:
  • Support change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage of required changes.
  • Assess the impact of organizational changes and develop strategies to minimize resistance and maximize engagement.
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of change initiatives and their benefits.
Team Building and Leadership:
  • Mentor, and manage a team of consultants and specialists, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Define team roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations to ensure clarity and accountability.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and knowledge of FSM solutions
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client executives and stakeholders across IT, business, and operations.
  • Conduct status reporting, steering committee presentations, and facilitate key decision-making sessions.
  • Translate business requirements into executable technical plans and ensure alignment between IT and business outcomes.

Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) is preferred.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with a significant focus on the utilities and energy industries.
  • Proven track record of leading complex implementation projects, and integrating with existing technology stack (ERP, CRM, CIS, BI, Datawarehouse, etc.).
  • Consulting background with experience in client-facing roles delivering high-impact programs.
  • Strong understanding of utility operations, asset management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in team building and leadership, with the ability to inspire and develop talent.
  • Excellent project management skills, including proficiency in project planning, execution, and risk management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to delegate, prioritize and go above and beyond to drive sprint deliverables as needed.
  • Technical proficiency in system integration, and data analytics.
  • Ability to travel to client site (domestic and(or) international) as required and defined per project requirements.
Certifications:
  • Professional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or similar certifications.
  • Certified SCRUM master (CSM) certification a plus.
