Mobile Medicine is a 24/7 operation. This role will primarily have a standard business work week; however, there will be times requiring evening or weekend engagement.
Pay Range
$68.20 - $102.30
Major Responsibilities
  • Builds and manages relationships with hospitals, EMS agencies, aviation partners, payers, referral sources, employers, and community organizations to increase utilization and strengthen referral patterns in support of Advocate Health's rotor-wing and fixed-wing air programs and other Mobile Medicine initiatives.
  • Creates comprehensive business plans; identifies, evaluates, and secures new business opportunities, including interfacility transfer partnerships, health system affiliations, aviation vendor agreements, and specialized clinical transport services (NICU/PICU, cardiac, ECMO, transplant, specialty repatriation).
  • Develops and executes enterprise growth strategy for Mobile Medicine programs, including expansion into new markets, service lines, and strategic partnerships. Leads development of business plans and financial models for Mobile Medicine programs.
  • Partners with divisional, area and facility leadership across service lines, including Clinical Operations, Aviation, EMS, Strategy, Finance, and Continuing Health to align business development initiatives with area, division and enterprise priorities.
  • Monitors ongoing performance metrics with other Mobile Medicine leaders-focusing on volume trends, payer mix, utilization patterns, and financial performance of mobile medicine support services; adjusts strategies to meet enterprise goals.
  • Conducts detailed market and competitor analysis across aviation, EMS, and mobile clinical care segments; translates findings into strategic recommendations for growth and differentiation.
  • Manages and responds to Request for Proposals (RFPs), partnering with legal, finance, contracting, and operations leaders to produce high-quality competitive submissions.
  • Leads negotiations and due diligence related to aviation partnerships, EMS affiliations, air base development, and Mobile Medicine service expansions, in collaboration with Legal, Finance, and executive leaders.
  • Collaborates with Commercial and Managed Care teams to align payer strategy with Mobile Medicine capabilities, seeking opportunities to improve reimbursement structures for air and ground transport.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, or related field.

Certification / Registration / License
  • N/A

Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in business development, market strategy, or growth planning in healthcare, aviation, EMS, or related high acuity service industries.
  • Experience working with air medical transport (helicopter and/or fixed-wing) programs, aviation vendors, or critical care transport operations.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship management, sales strategy, and execution in complex, competitive markets.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Clinical Operations Expertise: Understanding EMS protocols, MIH models, H@H operations, community paramedicine, and high-acuity home-based care.
  • Strategic Leadership: Ability to design and scale enterprise-level care delivery models across diverse geographic regions and regulatory environments.
  • Operational Excellence: Expertise in workforce planning, logistics coordination, DME systems, pharmacy support, radiology access, and home-based diagnostics.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with EMS licensure, MIH regulations, CMS waiver programs, Hospital at Home requirements, and state-level healthcare statutes.
  • Financial Literacy: Strong skills in budgeting, cost modeling, resource planning, and payer/program sustainability
  • Collaboration & Influencing Skills: Ability to work across clinical, operational, IT, government affairs, and executive teams to drive systemwide adoption.
  • High Reliability Mindset: Commitment to patient safety, quality, and measurable outcomes in decentralized care environments.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Significant travel within the Advocate footprint, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment and/or remote work environment.

Preferred Job Requirements
Preferred Education
  • Master's degree is strongly preferred for enterprise level scope. Focus preferred in Business, Healthcare Administration, Aviation Management, or related field

Preferred Experience
  • Direct experience in rotor-wing or fixed-wing aviation operations, critical-care transport, or emergency medical services.
  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, or integration of activities in healthcare or aviation sectors.
  • Experience partnering with payers or employers on air medical program design or reimbursement strategies.
  • Strong background in enterprise level business development, with the ability to drive growth across multistate regions.

Preferred Certification / Registration / License
  • Industry certifications like CMTE or SMTA

Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations, FAA requirements, and EMS state licensure processes.
  • Familiarity with operational technology platforms supporting Mobile Medicine and aviation (dispatch, EPCR, aviation scheduling, flight operations software).
