Position Summary

The Global Education Office (GEO) is seeking a student Marketing Assistant to provide support for GEO Marketing & Communications. The position works closely with GEO's Marketing and Outreach Rep and will assist primarily with creating engaging content on social media, graphic design, photography, videography, and writing. Other focuses of this position will be UNM brand focused and seeking out creative avenues of connecting with high school and college aged audiences. This position is expected to work 10-15 hours a week.
Essential Functions:
  • Monitor and update GEO social media accounts, which cater to international, study abroad and ESL students;
  • Develop graphics, videos, & other marketing materials, such as digital flyers, social media posts, and website assets;
  • Assist with developing and launching effective social media campaigns/presence on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other relevant social networking sites, as well as monitor and respond to client posts/DMs;
  • Monitors all mentions of GEO found online, including online discussions to craft responses, track alerts, and monitor social media sites via mobile devices in a timely manner
  • Assists in the collection, compilation, and analysis of online activity data, to help produce comprehensive statistical and narrative reports;
  • Collaborates with the GEO marketing rep to ensure proper content and messaging executed online is relevant to organizational goals;
  • Produce original photographic or videographic elements featuring campus life, events, and locations that highlight international education
  • Additional job-related duties as assigned.

  • Work experience and/or coursework in communications, journalism, videogrphy, and/or marketing;
  • Graphic design experience using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva;
  • Experience recording and editing video content for social media;
  • Experience with social media management platforms like Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprinklr (etc.);
  • Applicants must demonstrate a positive work ethic, show initiative, be reliable, flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
