Patient Care Technician Instructor

The Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department of Middlesex College invites applications for part-time, non-credit instructors to teach the following course:

Important: Please note that a non-credit instructor is not an adjunct position. Successful candidates teach courses in the Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department.

Primary Responsibilities:

The ability to teach 20 hours (5 evenings) per week for up to 4 hours per evening in person, which includes but not limited to the following subject areas:

  • Personal hygiene; vital signs; activities of daily living; infection control
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • EKG: Performing and Interpretation
  • Phlebotomy: Venipuncture and other sampling procedures
  • Patient Safety
  • Preparing student for industry certification as Patient Care Technician, EKG Technician and/or Phlebotomy Technician
  • Psycho/Social considerations of the patient
  • Care Planning/Interdisciplinary Care
  • Hospice Care

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current registration as a NJ Licensed Registered, a Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant, or Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Three (3) years of experience working in an in-patient environment
  • Experience in General Nursing Care, EKG, and Phlebotomy
  • Previous experience teaching adult learners
  • Ability to teach in Edison, New Brunswick, or Perth Amboy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience teaching in higher education
