Job description

Description:

You're the person kids remember. You're the one who made them feel seen, encouraged them to try something new, or helped them believe in themselves. If that's you, we need you on our team.

We're seeking experienced after-school staff who are ready to lead from day one. You'll have current CPR/AED, First Aid, and Water Safety certifications—no onboarding delays, no exceptions. If you're ready to join our After School team and help provide a safe, supportive, and engaging place for children to learn, grow, and have fun, let's talk.

Whether you're leading games, assisting with homework, or encouraging new friendships, you'll play an important role in shaping meaningful experiences for youth in our community.

Anderson Mill Limited District offers several programs, including After School, Summer Camp, and Senior Programming. Under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor, after-school staff help facilitate an elementary school-aged after-school program and support events throughout the year. This position spans the RRISD school year calendar and is based on a 20+

hour work week (primarily Mon-Fri 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm), with occasional Holiday Camps and All-Day-Outs (7:15 am - 6:00 pm) and occasional weekend and evening events. We are seeking highly reliable and dependable staff to join our after-school team!

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

SUPERVISION & SAFETY

  • Provide active, attentive supervision of children ages 5-11 in indoor and outdoor settings year-round
  • Maintain accurate daily check-in/check-out procedures and attendance records
  • Create and maintain a safe, clean, organized learning environment
  • Supervise children in aquatic activities during Friday fun days (early fall and late spring)
  • Follow all health, safety, and emergency protocols
  • Lift up to 30 lbs and engage in physical activity throughout the day

PROGRAMMING & ACTIVITIES

  • Lead and engage children in age-appropriate activities (games, crafts, sports, homework help, STEM, etc.)
  • Assist with organizing and creating after-school programming and educational curriculum
  • Support Holiday Camp and All-Day-Out events as needed
  • Communicate with parents about their child's experience and progress
  • Serve as a positive role model promoting respect, teamwork, and inclusion

TEAM COLLABORATION

  • Work directly under the Program & Events Supervisor and Programs Coordinator
  • Take feedback and supervision from both supervisory roles
  • Assist supervisors in managing daily program operations and event logistics
  • Greet and answer questions from the public about Parks, Recreation & Limited District programs
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow staff to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Work occasional weekends, evenings, and holiday events as scheduled
Requirements:

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED (Non-negotiable):

  • Current driver's license
  • Current certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED

PREFERRED (We're looking for):
