QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold State of Delaware Certification as a School Principal/Assistant Principal or hold out of state certification as a School Principal/Assistant Principal eligible for reciprocity
- Five or more years successful teaching experience
- Master's Degree (as required by certification)
- Knowledge of state and national curriculum, instruction and assessment programs in the curricular area
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff, families and administrators
- Demonstrated experience as a teacher-leader
- Knowledge of curriculum-based and standardized assessments and the use of data to review and plan instruction
- Experience planning, providing and evaluating Professional Learning in the content area
- Experience leading curriculum selection, development, implementation and evaluation
- Ability to work evening hours as needed

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Curriculum Specialist establishes and promotes high standards and expectations for all in the implementation of quality curriculum and evidence-based instructional strategies that meet the needs of every scholar. The Curriculum Specialist has primary responsibility for the selection, development, management, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum that supports the Christina School District instructional goals and objectives. The Curriculum Specialist is responsible for facilitating support services to teachers, coaches, paraprofessionals and administrators appropriate to the content area. Christina School District is seeking a talented, motivated, teacher leader committed to advancing excellence in teaching, improving teacher quality, and assisting teachers, principals and central office staff in delivery and implementation of district approved High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM).
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Curriculum Development and Implementation: Facilitate the selection and implementation of HQIM that is delivered with fidelity in each classroom across the district. Ensure the alignment of content with content standards and evidence-based instructional practices. Curate a collection of evidence-based resources and identify and promote instructional strategies for teachers; especially those designed to support both struggling students and high academic achievers. Integrate digital literacy and tech skills into teaching strategies. Lead curriculum adoption(s), curriculum based request for proposals (RFP), inventories, and recruitment and retention of teachers.
- Instructional Design and Standards: Design instructional materials, including lesson plans, worksheets, assessments, and multimedia resources, to support effective teaching and learning. Ensure that curriculum materials and instructional strategies align with relevant educational standards, such as state or national standards, and educational trends. Support school based resources, such as instructional coaches, department chairs, team leads, etc. to support effective teaching and learning.
- Supervision: Supervision of effective implementation and application of curriculum, high-leverage instructional practices, through classroom and building walkthroughs and utilizing the State evaluation system. Evaluate staff using the DPAS/DTGSS process and procedures (as assigned) outlined by the State department or approved evaluation tool identified by the respective employee group
- Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to identify curriculum needs, gather feedback, and incorporate diverse perspectives into curriculum design. Hold regular meetings with school based content leaders, administration, instructional teams & committees, and instructional coaches. Develop and facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) to support collaborative curriculum planning and implementation.
- Professional Development: Provide training, coaching, and professional development opportunities for educators to support the effective implementation of curriculum materials and instructional strategies. These opportunities should be inclusive of, but not limited to, technology integration, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), and character education, Delaware Teacher Growth and Support (DTGSS), student inquiry, and project-based learning. Additional professional development should address tailored teaching for diverse learners; specifically special education and ELL for accessible curriculum and support the integration of cultural competency and diversity awareness into curriculum content. Develop, implement, and deliver a comprehensive Professional Development plan.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop assessment tools and evaluation criteria to measure student learning outcomes and assess the effectiveness of curriculum materials and instructional strategies. Serve as a resource, coach, and consultant for teachers seeking support with curriculum planning, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
- Data Analysis and Plan Creation: Analyze data on student performance and curriculum implementation to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making processes. Participate in the creation of school improvement plans, leadership priority plans, and state and federal plans.
- Research, Innovation and Quality Assurance: Stay informed about current trends, research, and innovations in education and curriculum development to continuously improve curriculum materials and instructional practices. Ensure the quality, relevance, and accessibility of curriculum materials, including adherence to accessibility standards and cultural sensitivity.
- Communication: Communicate with stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, parents, and community members, to provide information about curriculum initiatives, gather feedback, and address concerns. Provide school board, CSD cabinet, and CSD teams and committees presentations and updates as necessary.
- Policy Compliance and Networking: Ensure compliance with relevant education policies, regulations, and guidelines in curriculum development and implementation. Build professional networks and collaborate with other curriculum specialists, educators, and organizations to share best practices and resources.

CONTENT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead curriculum alignment work to the Academic Standards and Assessment for Delaware
- Maintain the Knowledge Management System and District Curriculum Website with the following:
- Course/grade level syllabus
- Customized Pacing Guides that support Common Core State Standards and Delaware Recommended Curriculum
- Common Benchmark Assessments, End of Unit Assessments/Transfer Tasks, Assessment Prompts (Scoring Guides and Rubrics)
- Professional Learning Materials and Modules
- Develop rubrics for evaluating lessons and develop workshops to help teachers learn how to plan effective lessons
- Develop rubrics for evaluating submitted curriculum based assessments and develop workshops to support implementation
- Develop tools to measure the alignment of the written, taught, and tested curriculum
- Develop tools to measure the fidelity of implementation of content area curricula
- Facilitate PLC meetings or small groups to develop the prioritized curriculum units, acquisition lessons, assessments, and scoring guides.
- Facilitate and monitor all processes related to materials procurement, distribution, and classroom application
