Announcement Summary
Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for a 10-month Business Administration Instructor, Marketing position in Business Programs. The instructor will teach Marketing (MKT) courses and support student learning, course quality, program relevance, and workforce-aligned instruction in a community college setting.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong balance between current marketing industry experience and the ability to transfer that knowledge into effective academic instruction. This includes the ability to design organized courses, applied assignments, clear rubrics, meaningful assessments, and learning activities that connect marketing theory to workplace practice.
The successful candidate must be able to teach face-to-face, online, hybrid, blended, evening, weekend, and/or multi-campus courses as assigned. This position requires a minimum of 28 hours on campus each week to support teaching, advising, student engagement, collaboration, and college responsibilities.
Note: Applicants may be asked to provide a sample assignment, rubric, course module, training material, or teaching demonstration that shows their ability to translate marketing knowledge into student learning.

The incumbent in this position is expected to assist the College in achieving its mission and purpose. Customer focus, college service, and a willingness to assist as needed are expectations for all employees.
Mastery of Subject Matter
- Demonstrate thorough, accurate, evidence-based, and current knowledge of marketing, consumer behavior, digital marketing, social media marketing, customer experience, sales, branding, market research, marketing analytics, entrepreneurial marketing and related marketing disciplines.
- Interpret and evaluate marketing theories, practices, tools, technologies, trends, and workplace applications within the assigned teaching discipline.
- Connect marketing concepts to current industry practice, labor market expectations, customer-centered strategy, and applied workplace performance.
- Maintain currency in marketing practice, instructional content, and relevant business and industry expectations.
- Translate professional marketing experience into teachable concepts, examples, activities, and assessments appropriate for community college students.
Teaching Performance
- Teach assigned Marketing (MKT) courses according to the published curriculum and assigned course load in accordance with College guidelines, goals, and objectives.
- Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi, approved course outlines, schedules, grades, census information, and related reports in accordance with program, division, and college policies.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate instruction that promotes student learning, engagement, retention, and completion.
- Use varied instructional methods and strategies to support diverse learners and to move students from marketing concepts to applied performance.
- Design and use applied assignments, rubrics, assessments, examples, and learning activities that connect marketing theory to workplace practice.
- Teach face-to-face, online, hybrid, blended, evening, weekend, and/or multi-campus courses as assigned.
- Maintain a minimum of 28 hours on campus each week to support teaching, advising, student engagement, collaboration, and college responsibilities.
- Recommend improvements to curriculum, textbooks, instructional techniques, modes of delivery, equipment, software, technology, learning resources, and facilities.
- Evaluate, revise, and help develop Marketing courses as needed to maintain relevance, currency, and alignment with the role and mission of the College.
- Maintain face-to-face and/or virtual classroom environments that are professional, engaging, organized, and conducive to student learning and retention.
Mastery of Instructional Technology
- Use current instructional technologies to enhance teaching, communication, student engagement, and student learning.
- Develop and maintain an electronic learning site for all assigned courses through Canvas or the College-approved learning content management system.
- Ensure assigned online, hybrid, and blended courses comply with FTCC online standards and division expectations.
- Use electronic resources, marketing platforms, databases, analytics tools, business tools, and relevant technologies to locate and incorporate current instructional content.
- Provide online study guides, instructional resources, examples, demonstrations, or other support materials for assigned courses as appropriate.
- Assist students in locating and using course resources, reference materials, electronic learning tools, and appropriate marketing-related technologies.
Evaluation of Student Learning
- Organize course content and communicate course requirements, learning outcomes, assignments, grading criteria, due dates, and methods of evaluation.
- Use evaluation tools, rubrics, and assessment methods appropriate to the learning outcomes being measured.
- Maintain accurate scholastic, attendance, and membership records for students enrolled in assigned courses and submit required reports by established deadlines.
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to support student learning.
- Use assessment results, student performance data, and course-level evidence to identify instructional improvements.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances and make appropriate referrals for support services.
- Provide feedback that helps students understand performance expectations and improve applied marketing skills.
Support of College Policies and Procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with College policy and FERPA guidelines.
- Maintain currency in the assigned subject matter through professional development, professional organizations, and participation in relevant meetings, conferences, workshops, or marketing industry activities.
- Submit a Personal and Professional Development Plan annually to the Department Chairperson or Program Coordinator.
- Substitute for other instructors within the field or discipline in case of absence, as appropriate and assigned.
- Comply with College procedures related to safety, records retention, stewardship of college facilities, supplies, and equipment.
- Actively engage in program review, assessment, strategic planning, curriculum and program improvement, recruitment, and retention efforts.
- Adhere to current requirements and submit documentation as needed for credentialing, licensure, certification, registration, health requirements, and/or other validation requirements, as appropriate.
- Operate with integrity in all matters.
Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities
- Serve as faculty advisor to students.
- Post and maintain regular office hours to ensure accessibility for advisement and consultation with students, colleagues, and other college stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain regular contact with advisees to provide guidance and encouragement that supports educational goals.
- Perform registration duties as assigned.
- Attend and participate in scheduled faculty, committee, division, program, and college-wide meetings, including graduation ceremonies.
- Uphold the dignity of the profession through appropriate dress, behavior, communication, and maintenance of office and classroom environments.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and community partners.
Contribution to the Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs
- Support student organizations and student-based activities as appropriate and assigned.
- Foster and sustain collegial relationships with colleagues, college representatives, the local community, business and industry partners, advisory committee members, and professional organizations.
- Support outreach, recruitment, advising, retention, advisory committee, work-based learning, and partnership activities as assigned.
- Contribute to Marketing program growth, workforce relevance, course quality, and continuous improvement within Business Programs.
- Support curriculum alignment with current marketing practice, student progression, and workforce needs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Three or more years of documented marketing industry experience.
- Documented evidence of teaching, training, curriculum development, instructional design, professional development delivery, or similar experience transferring professional knowledge into a learning environment.
- Experience using a learning management system to support instruction, communication, assessment, feedback, and student engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to teach face-to-face, online, hybrid, blended, evening, weekend, and/or multi-campus Marketing courses as assigned.
- Ability to maintain a minimum of 28 hours on campus each week in accordance with college expectations.
Preferred Requirements
At least 18 graduate semester hours in Marketing
Five or more years of documented marketing industry experience.
Teaching experience in a community college or other higher education setting.
Experience teaching, training, or developing instruction in marketing, digital marketing, social media marketing, customer experience, sales, branding, market research, marketing analytics, entrepreneurship, or general marketing.
Experience designing applied assignments, rubrics, assessments, and learning activities that connect marketing theory to workplace practice.
Experience using Canvas as a course delivery and student engagement platform.
Experience with marketing analytics, data-informed marketing decisions, campaign evaluation, customer insights, or related marketing performance measures.
Experience developing or revising curriculum, assessments, rubrics, course materials, or instructional resources.
