Settlement & Currency Services is Mastercard's center of expertise for global settlement, cross-border payments, currency and foreign exchange services, and value movement across traditional and digital financial networks. The team supports initiatives related to fiat and digital currencies, settlement infrastructure, and emerging payment technologies, working across products, markets, and functions to advance strategic priorities. The team also develops solutions that enable funds movement between Mastercard customers, engages with regulators and manages relationships with commercial and central banks.
Mastercard is rapidly expanding its global payment, settlement, and digital asset capabilities. The Settlement & Currency Services team is seeking a Manager to help design, develop, and implement innovative solutions that enable the seamless movement of money across borders, currencies, and payment ecosystems, supporting Mastercard's mission to make payments safe, simple, and fast.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Manager, Settlement & Currency Services will serve as a key liaison across Core Payments Product, Global Settlement Operations, and Technology teams, providing thought leadership and subject matter expertise in global settlement, cross-border payments, and emerging value transfer ecosystems. The role will focus on developing and enhancing strategic capabilities that support the movement of funds across borders, currencies, and payment rails, including both traditional fiat and digital currency environments.
Key responsibilities include:
Support the development and enhancement of Mastercard's global settlement, cross-border payment, and currency capabilities
Work closely with senior team members and stakeholders to analyze business requirements, assess solution alternatives, and contribute to the design of payment, settlement, and value transfer capabilities across fiat and digital currency ecosystems.
Coordinate cross-functional efforts to support the delivery of new products, market expansions, and capability enhancements, helping ensure alignment across business, operational, technology, and treasury stakeholders.
Assist in evaluating settlement, liquidity, funding, and currency management considerations for new payment flows, products, and strategic initiatives, supporting the development of scalable and efficient operating models.
Conduct research and analysis on industry trends, regulatory developments, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies related to cross-border payments, global settlement, and digital assets, delivering insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
Develop business cases, requirements documentation, presentations, and stakeholder communications to support product development efforts, executive discussions, and the successful implementation of new capabilities.
The role requires extensive interaction with various global functions: technology, product, treasury, settlement, legal, etc. and provides an excellent opportunity for future growth at Mastercard. All About You:
The ideal candidate will be someone with a strong knowledge and/or interest in the payment arena with a focus of technology enablement of settlement and foreign exchange processes, while also being interested in a broader functional role that includes product development and strategy. We are looking for out-of-the box, creative thinkers who are very strong analytically, and have experience working cross-functionally across an organization. The successful candidate is someone with product development, product management and/or treasury experience, who is excited to stretch themselves, and who has demonstrated a track record of executing projects involving ambiguity and broad range of inputs (finance, technology, etc.).
Specific requirements include:
Experience working in payments, financials services or fintech
Strong analytical skills
Corporate finance and/or foreign exchange experience is a plus
Ability to think creatively and out-of-the box; ability to challenge the status quo; demonstrated ability to innovate
Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to work and communicate cross-functionally
Product development, or system implementation experience is a plus
Excellent leadership qualities, including getting work done through others, being organizationally savvy, thought leadership

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Purchase, New York: $137,000 - $218,000 USD
