Job description

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. The college is a recognized leader in career and transfer preparation, workforce training initiatives, distance learning and service to a diverse population of students. Hudson Valley has an extension center in Malta, NY known as HVCC North and sponsors the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center in Troy, NY. Applications are being accepted for the following vacancies for the Fall 2026 semester on the Faculty staff of Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, New York.

Instructor-Engineering Science HV-FAC-8917
Full-Time Tenure Track 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university. Two years of previous teaching experience. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university. Professional Engineering License. Demonstrated teacher effectiveness across multiple modalities in higher education is strongly. Experience using D2L Brightspace is preferred.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:     
•    Provide classroom instruction in Engineering Science and Engineering Technology.
•    Evaluate student performance and complete assessments as required by the College.
•    Collaborate with colleagues on course and program development as well as transfer course review.
•    Participate in departmental, division wide, and/or college wide committees. 
•    At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract.
•    Ability to teach a class at Malta campus. Teaching assignments may include weekend, evening, and online.

The Salary for this position is $53,000.00. This is a 10-month position (151 workdays). In addition to the baseline salary, there is the potential for additional compensation through voluntary overload teaching.
