Job description


VACANCY:   The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a full-time, Professional Office Personnel (200 Days) position at Romeoville High School for the 2026/2027 School Year.
JOB SUMMARY:


  • Reports to the Assistant Principal
  • Perform general clerical duties, such as, but not limited to, answering phones, greeting visitors and performing Raptor duties, scheduling meetings, sorting and distributing U.S. and inter-district mail, typing correspondence, filing and records management, preparing and initiating Parentlink calls, completing data entry, participating in emergency drills, attending district meetings, distributing supplies, and preparing/distributing supplies, and preparing/distributing parent event flyers
  • Support the building administrator with student scheduling
  • Act as building registrar
  • Support the building Assistant Principal/SRT leader with various tasks
  • Manage daily student attendance tasks
  • Enter student referrals, suspensions and detentions into appropriate database
  • Maintain annual book inventory
  • Coordinate testing materials
  • Update and maintain student transportation lists
  • Provide assistance with major student events through the school year
  • Process requests for building usage
  • Act as back-up employee attendance operator for the building, as assigned
  • Assist with interpreting parent phone calls, meetings and/or translating written communication, if applicable
  • Attend evening events, as requested
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

 
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent, some College preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years secretarial experience, preferred
  • Must possess proficient typing, grammar and computer skills, including all Microsoft Office and Google products
  • Knowledge and experience with office equipment
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and on the phone
  • Must be proficient in general clerical tasks
  • Must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality
  • Must possess the ability to perform and complete assigned tasks
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations with professionalism
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administration, staff and stakeholders
  • Serve as a role model for all students, and perform duties to create an environment that is conducive to providing students and enhanced and engaged learning opportunity
  • Negative T.B. and physical required

PAY SCALE AND BENEFIT DISCLOSURE:  Salary is in accordance with the Office Personnel Salary Schedule.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  The work year for this position is 200 days.  Salary is paid in accordance with the office personnel salary schedule.
