Job description

Overview

As a Journeyman Electrician-EV Charging Infrastructure, you will support the construction and installation of EV charging infrastructure for major customers, including large-scale charging station buildouts. This is a hands-on field role for someone who can perform electrical work, support jobsite coordination, work closely with crews, and help MasTec continue building its internal EV charging construction capabilities.


Responsibilities

The ideal candidate is a licensed Journeyman Electrician who understands commercial electrical construction and has experience working around site buildouts, trenching, conduit, concrete cutting, equipment pads, charger installation, and civil coordination. EV charging experience is strongly preferred, but strong commercial or industrial electrical experience may also be considered. You believe in doing the job right, working safely, communicating clearly, and helping the team complete quality work in the field.

In addition, you will:

  • Perform electrical installation work for EV charging infrastructure
  • Support EV charging station construction and installation projects
  • Install and support charging stations, equipment pads, conduit, panels, switchgear, bollards, and related site components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, electrical plans, and site layouts
  • Coordinate daily field activities with crew members, civil teams, subcontractors, utility representatives, inspectors, and internal project teams
  • Support site work involving concrete cutting, trenching, conduit routing, grounding, equipment placement, and charger installation
  • Help identify material needs, field priorities, jobsite issues, and schedule impacts
  • Ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and in accordance with NEC, local code, customer standards, and MasTec quality expectations
  • Communicate field issues clearly and promptly to the project team
  • Track job progress, completed work, materials, and field updates as needed
  • Assist with guiding helpers, apprentices, and less-experienced crew members when needed
  • Support the growth of MasTec’s in-house EV charging construction crews
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused jobsite
  • Travel to project sites as needed

Qualifications

About you:

  • You are a licensed Journeyman Electrician
  • You have commercial or industrial electrical construction experience
  • You can read electrical drawings, blueprints, and site plans
  • You understand conduit, panels, grounding, switchgear, equipment placement, and power distribution
  • You have experience working around civil/site construction, such as trenching, concrete cutting, equipment pads, bollards, or underground conduit
  • You are comfortable coordinating with civil crews, inspectors, utilities, subcontractors, and project managers
  • You are safety-minded and understand jobsite safety expectations
  • You are organized, dependable, and able to work well with field crews
  • You have strong communication skills with field teams and management
  • You are willing to travel as needed
  • EV charging/EVSE installation experience
  • Tesla Supercharger, EVgo, fleet charging, or public charging station experience
  • Experience supporting large charging sites with multiple chargers
  • Experience with concrete cutting, trenching, underground conduit, and equipment pad coordination
  • Experience assisting apprentices, helpers, or less-experienced electricians
  • CDL or DOT physical eligibility is a plus
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, lift certifications, or other safety training are a plus
  • This role requires heavy travel, potentially up to 90%, depending on project location and customer needs
  • This position supports EV charging projects in the Houston, TX market (We are also hiring for a similar need in Lewisville, TX)
