Job Description - Supply Chain & Procurement Manager

Location: Sylmar, CA

Position OverviewWe are seeking a Supply Chain & Procurement Manager with deep manufacturing process knowledge and proven database management expertise to lead raw material procurement, production control/planning, and customer account management for two manufacturing sites specializing in aerospace fasteners.The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring the ability to:
  • Build advanced Excel/Power BI reports from complex SQL Server queries, transforming raw data into actionable insights.
  • Spend time on the shop floor to understand production flow, collaborate with operators and supervisors, and apply practical manufacturing knowledge to improve processes.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Data & Systems Ownership
  • Design, build, and maintain advanced reports and dashboards using complex SQL Server queries and other database tools.
  • Ensure data integrity and structure in ERP (Infor Visual Manufacturing) and reporting systems to support decision-making across the organization.
  • Translate operational needs into automated, reliable data solutions.
  1. Supply Chain & Production Planning
  • Coordinate raw material supply with production requirements for two manufacturing plants.
  • Align production schedules with customer demand weekly via internal systems; analyze deviations and ensure monthly plan feasibility.
  • Develop and monitor monthly production plans in collaboration with manufacturing; participate in daily reviews to maintain targets and anticipate issues.
  • Define annual production targets for the shop floor, based on capacity and demand analysis; establish and maintain all production reports throughout the year.
  • Maintain, develop, and optimize production and supply chain databases (SQL Server, ERP, BI tools) to ensure data integrity and accurate reporting.
  • Design and manage KPI dashboards and reporting tools to support production planning and decision-making.
  • Apply manufacturing process expertise to align production targets, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
  • Anticipate shortages, bottlenecks, and disruptions; implement contingency plans and adjust targets as needed.
  • Oversee production-related reporting and KPIs; optimize inventory levels for availability and cash flow.
  • Support Production Control by reviewing work order releases, training employees, auditing department activities, and troubleshooting ERP issues.
  • Monitor New Product Introduction (NPI) parts and any other critical item, and report risks or issues.
  1. Procurement & Contract Management
  • Manage sourcing and procurement of aerospace-grade raw materials/superalloys from global suppliers.
  • Lead a team of buyers, ensuring delivery schedule accuracy and adherence to requirements.
  • Negotiate long-term agreements (LTAs), pricing, and supply terms with mills and distributors; develop new suppliers and secure partnerships.
  • Monitor market trends, tariffs, and cost fluctuations; adapt purchasing strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with quality, lead time, and delivery requirements through regular reviews and KPI tracking.
  1. Customer Account Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key European customers (e.g., SAFRAN, MTU, Piaggio Aero).
  • Manage contract terms, order fulfillment, delivery schedules, and commercial discussions.
  • Resolve supply, quality, and delivery issues in collaboration with operations and quality teams.
  • Support business development by providing pricing, lead time, and feasibility input.
  1. Cross-Functional Leadership & Reporting
  • Facilitate collaboration between procurement, quality, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Report on KPIs including on-time delivery, supplier performance, cost savings, and material availability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement and supply chain processes.
  • Assist Sales and Quality teams in data analysis for customer audits.
  • Qualifications

    Required:

  • Advanced database management skills: SQL Server, complex queries, Power BI, and advanced Excel (pivot tables, data modeling).
  • Deep manufacturing process knowledge with the ability to quickly grasp production flow and engage effectively with shop floor teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to extract, manipulate, and interpret data using statistical principles.
  • 10+ years in aerospace or industrial manufacturing supply chain/procurement.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Visual Manufacturing preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Knowledge of aerospace raw materials, specifications, and supplier base.
  • Experience managing multiple high-value customer accounts.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written & verbal).
  • Preferred:

  • Familiarity with European aerospace customers and supply chain practices.
  • APICS CLTD, CSCP, or equivalent supply chain certification.
  • Master's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training or certification.
  • Knowledge of export compliance and ITAR/EAR regulations.
  • Bilingual English/French a plus.
