Job Summary:
ETS is a global education and talent solutions organization enabling lifelong learners worldwide to be future-ready. The Research Fellow will contribute to the Center on Responsible AI in Assessment, conducting research on responsible AI in assessment and developing innovative assessment solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct original research on responsible AI in assessment, including but not limited to automated scoring, conversational assessments, fairness/bias detection, and learning analytics.
• Design and prototype new AI-enabled assessment tools and methodologies, leveraging expertise in deep learning, data mining, or related areas.
• Develop and apply psychometric models or analytical frameworks to ensure validity, reliability, and fairness of AI-driven assessment systems.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (e.g., academic institutions, industry) on research projects and capacity-building initiatives.
• Disseminate research findings through publications, presentations, and internal reports.
• Mentor junior staff, interns, or postdoctoral researchers as appropriate.
• Support grant writing, proposal development, and strategic planning as required for Center activities.
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: AI/ML, HCI, educational data mining, learning analytics, psychometrics, or assessment technology.
• Evidence of research excellence (e.g., publications, project leadership).
• Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills.
• Commitment to ethical and responsible innovation.
• Experience translating research into practical applications or prototypes.
• Track record of interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Leadership or mentoring experience.
Qualifications:
