Requirements

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations and evaluations of construction concerns and problems, including active or completed construction projects.
  • Review work performed to determine if it meets applicable industry standards, codes, means, and methods.
  • Thoroughly review scopes of work prepared by various parties, including competing estimates, photographs, engineering reports, and specifications, to determine the cost of repairs.
  • Perform on-site investigations, review contracts and legal documents, and meticulously report findings.
  • Break down project costs into detailed categories like labor, materials, equipment, permits, and contingencies.
  • Develop and present clear, concise, and defensible opinions.ย 
  • Analyze market trends, current material prices, and labor rates to ensure accurate cost estimates.

Requirements:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or General Contractor (GC) license.
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Expertise in using construction estimating software (i.e., RS Means, Xactimate) to generate accurate cost breakdowns.
  • Ability to analyze project documents and accurately delineate scopes of work and duties.
  • Clear and effective communication with clients, project managers, and attorneys.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously.

Work Environment:

  • Based in Cincinnati, this position is working from home when not conducting several site visits per week to assess project conditions, verify/establish measurements, etc., mostly day trips.ย 
  • Virtual and in-person collaboration with project managers, clients, and attorneys, including depositions and trials.
