Job description

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects. The Estimator will analyze plans, specifications, and project requirements to develop detailed budgets, bid proposals, and cost analyses. This role works closely with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure successful project planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Develop comprehensive bid packages and proposals.
  • Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope review meetings.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, architects, and engineers.
  • Maintain current pricing databases and estimating software.
  • Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates throughout project phases.
  • Assist with contract negotiations and project handoff to operations teams.
  • Monitor market trends, labor rates, and material pricing fluctuations.
  • Ensure estimates comply with company standards and client requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management is preferred.
  • 10+ years of commercial construction estimating experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Experience with estimating software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
