Job description

Job Summary
Having foundational experience in estate planning, trust administration, tax planning, probate, and related areas, the Trusts and Estates Senior Associate or Partner works closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored legal advice to ensure their wishes are carried out and their assets are protected.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist partners in designing and drafting all areas of clients' estate and tax planning including the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance health care directives and relevant business documents.
  • Administer trusts and estates, including managing the probate process and overseeing the distribution of assets.
  • Handle tax planning and tax compliance related to trusts and estates.
  • Provide guidance on charitable planning, business succession planning, and asset protection strategies.
  • Represent clients in probate court and other legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Keep up to date with changes in estate and tax laws and regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and personalized service.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, and other professionals to provide comprehensive legal solutions.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Licensed to practice law in Ohio.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in trust and estate and tax law is required.
  • Accounting and/or tax experience or education preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning, probate, and trust administration.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
