Job description

Overview
We are looking for a passionate, curious, and self-driven UX Researcher, Data Analyst & Optimization Specialist to sit at the foundation of our optimization practice - turning raw user behavior into rigorous, decision-ready insight.
This role reports directly to the UX Strategist and executes the analytical and research backbone of the optimization strategy they own. Where the Strategist sets direction and owns the client-facing narrative, this person owns the depth: the journey maps, the funnel builds, the cohort analyses, and the qualitative research that make every recommendation defensible.
The ideal candidate is a true quantitative expert with equally strong qualitative instincts - someone who can pull a statistically sound insight out of a GA4 funnel and also run a usability session that explains why the number looks the way it does. You have deep comprehension of Google Analytics and the Shopify ecosystem, and you use both to tell a story around user experience through a data-driven lens.
You will work cross-functionally alongside the UX Strategist, designers, and developers to properly tag events, track user flows, and evaluate site performance against defined KPIs - with a particular focus on journey mapping, funnel construction, LTV cohorting, and measuring the downstream impact of every UX change we ship.
Core Responsibilities
1. Journey Mapping & Funnel Analysis
• Build and maintain detailed journey maps and end-to-end conversion funnels (landing → PDP → cart → checkout →
purchase → retention)
• Understand and improve how users move through the funnel, diagnosing high abandonment and bounce points
• Draw qualitative insight about user experience from quantitative data, and vice versa
• Surface friction points and translate them into clear, testable opportunity areas for the Strategist's roadmap
2. Quantitative Data Analysis
• Conduct thorough data analysis in GA4 and Shopify to understand how users interact with and move through the site
• Build and maintain LTV cohort analyses to connect UX and onsite behavior to long-term customer value and retention
• Own data accuracy and integrity as a core competency - analyzing, validating, and pulling insight from the numbers
before anyone else touches them
• Apply sound statistical practice to ensure findings are reliable, not just directional
3. Qualitative & Mixed-Methods Research
• Plan and run qualitative research - usability testing, heuristic evaluation, and user interviews - to explain the "why" behind the data
• Apply UX best practices and heuristics to evaluate and improve user experience
• Blend qualitative and quantitative methods into a single, coherent read on user behavior
• Create artifacts such as user flows, wireflows, and journey maps to communicate findings internally and to clients
4. Event Tagging & Measurement Infrastructure
• Partner with developers to tag interactive elements of the site, ensuring data accuracy and full visibility into user
behavior
• Identify tracking gaps and help build out the event architecture that underpins the Strategist's measurement strategy
• Support GA4 funnel setup, custom event design, and ongoing tracking QA
5. A/B Testing & Impact Measurement
• Maintain a high-velocity, robust A/B testing program with clear strategic hypotheses tied to account goals and success
metrics
• Measure and report on the impact of tests and site changes on website performance, LTV, and retention
• Rigorously measure the downstream impact of shipped UX implementations, not just the initial test result - closing the
loop from hypothesis to long-term outcome
6. Reporting & Insight Communication
• Skillfully translate key findings into insights and recommendations that support the Strategist's client narrative
• Create effective, well-structured reports and dashboards that make complex data easy to act on
• Present findings and recommendations clearly, both in written reports and verbal presentation to stakeholders
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work alongside the UX Strategist, designers, and developers to move from insight to shipped improvement
• Operate comfortably across multiple clients in a fast-paced environment
• Support the Strategist's roadmap with research and analysis delivered on the cadence the account needs
Ideal Qualifications
Experience & Expertise
• 4-7 years of experience in e-commerce, UX research, or product/data analytics
• Expertise in Google Analytics, the Shopify ecosystem, and various A/B testing software platforms
• Understanding of quantitative data analysis, statistics, and data visualization
Research & Measurement Skills
• Strong grounding in journey mapping, funnel analysis, and LTV cohorting
• Understanding of best-practice experimentation design: proposing hypotheses and testing design iterations to learn about
users and site experience
• Knowledge of user-centered design process and design thinking strategies
• Comfort applying both quantitative and qualitative research methods to the same problem
Reporting & Communication
• Ability to create effective reports, present them clearly, and use tools that properly derive insight from user data
• Ability to create artifacts such as prototypes, wireframes, user flows, and wireflows to communicate ideas internally and externally
Collaboration
• Experience working across functional teams like development, design, and project management to deliver successful outcomes
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, working across multiple clients
• Ability to work well within a reporting structure, translating a Strategist's direction into rigorous execution
What Success Looks Like in This Role
• Your journey maps and funnel analyses become the shared source of truth the Strategist builds the roadmap on
• Your LTV cohorting consistently connects UX changes to real, measurable business value
• Your research - quantitative and qualitative - explains not just what is happening, but why
• Your reporting is clear enough that stakeholders act on it without needing it translated further
• The Strategist trusts your analysis as the foundation for every recommendation they make
Why This Role Matters
At Anatta, insight is only as good as the rigor behind it.
The UX Researcher, Data Analyst & Optimization Specialist builds that rigor - mapping the journey, measuring the funnel,
and explaining the why behind the numbers - so the strategy built on top of it is never guesswork
The duties and responsibilities described here are not a comprehensive list and the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands. Anatta Design reserves the right to revise the job description as circumstances warrant. What are the perks?
We do our best to make sure employees are supported in everything they do. We offer a range of benefits and perks:

  • Annual winter break: We close the week between Christmas and New Year's so everyone can truly disconnect and recharge

  • Company events, happy hours, and retreats
  • Budget for continuing education
  • Other perks vary by location
