To establish a substitute pool for 2026/2027 school year.
This position provides coverage at school sites district-wide.
On call as needed
Monday - Friday
Working hours vary between: 8:15 am - 2:30 pm
Job Description / Essential Elements:
EL RANCHO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE I
Definition
Under immediate supervision, assist teachers by performing routine instructional and non-instructional duties designed to free the teacher of routine work related to the program; converse with children in English; and do related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Listens to and drills students according to instructions and guidance from the teacher; maintains routine informational and operational records; prepares, reorders, and distributes audio-visual equipment and instructional supplies; assembles instructional aide kits; prepares labels, charts, and displays as instructed; mounts maps, mixes paints, assists in maintaining a neat and orderly room; scores tests, supervises the work of groups of pupils during recess, lunch, and bus loading and unloading activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of: Good English usage, simple spelling, and arithmetic.
Ability to: Establish a good relationship with young children; communicate with professionals; serve as a liaison between the professional and the parent; helps the family share in providing enriching experiences; collect and maintain family history files; organize discussion meetings, film showings, etc.; follow written and oral instructions; and work cooperatively with others.
Education: Persons with the required experience are considered to meet the educational requirements.
Experience: Recent experience, paid or volunteer, in working with children desired.

  • NCLB Compliance (ESSA Compliance - AA Degree (or higher) OR 48 college units. We may provide a test for those who do not meet the ESSA requirement.)
  • Proof of HS Graduation (High School Diploma or equivalent)

Comments and Other Information
If an applicant does not meet the ESSA Compliance requirement at the time of applying, we will provide an additional test to those applicants who are screened in and do not meet the ESSA requirement. The ESSA Compliance test is in addition to the test for the position itself. Passing the ESSA Compliance test will fulfill the ESSA requirement.
