Job description

Position Description

Butler Esports supports student engagement, community connection, competitive gaming, events, and multimedia production through the Butler Esports Park. This position assists with maintaining GGLeap and PC image software while supporting social media, live-streaming, content production, and event operations. The role provides day-to-day oversight of front desk student staff and contributes to a consistent, professional guest experience that advances Butler Esports and university initiatives. Team members will have opportunities to develop practical skills in leadership, technical systems, digital media, production technology, event operations, and professional communication while completing additional duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

Flexible (10-20 hours per week)

Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain GGLeap and PC image software to support consistent access to games, applications, and system configurations across facility computers.
  • Coordinate social media content that promotes Butler Esports programs, events, accomplishments, and community engagement.
  • Produce live streams, recorded content, and other digital media while supporting setup, operation, and troubleshooting of production equipment.
  • Support event operations by preparing spaces, coordinating technology, assisting participants, and helping events run efficiently.
  • Supervise front desk student staff by providing direction, reinforcing service expectations, and supporting effective daily operations.
  • Troubleshoot common software, hardware, gaming, and production issues to reduce disruptions for guests, staff, and event participants.
  • Collaborate with Butler Esports staff on departmental projects, facility priorities, and additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be actively enrolled as a Butler University student throughout employment. 
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with guests, student staff, and departmental partners through written and verbal interactions. 
  • Demonstrate reliability, organization, and the ability to meet scheduling expectations while managing multiple responsibilities. 
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team and contribute a positive, solutions-oriented mentality in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Show a willingness and ability to learn technical systems, production equipment, event procedures, and staff oversight responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous customer service or hospitality experience may help candidates succeed in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for guests. 
  • Familiarity with basic PC troubleshooting, gaming hardware, peripherals, or software is beneficial but not required. 
  • Participation in the broader gaming ecosystem-such as esports, recreational gaming, streaming, content creation, or gaming communities-may also support success in the role.
