About this role:

Would we love a Plex expert? Absolutely - but it isn't required. What we're really looking for is someone with a genuine passion for business applications, strong project management instincts, and the drive to grow into the go-to person for our ERP.

Our company runs on Rockwell Automation's Plex ERP across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and finance. If you know your way around a few Plex modules - or have solid experience with another manufacturing ERP - and you're excited to go deeper, we will invest in getting you there. You won't be doing it alone: an established third-party consulting partner handles our most complex technical work (EDI mappings, integrations, advanced configuration), and a big part of this job is managing that partner well - setting priorities, tracking deliverables, and making sure we get what we pay for.

This is a build-your-expertise role with a clear runway: start by owning projects, vendor coordination, and day-to-day application support, and grow into full ownership of the Plex environment over time.

What You'll Do

Project & Vendor Management (your core strength)

Manage our third-party ERP/EDI consulting partner: set priorities, assign and approve work, track deliverables, review performance, and hold the partner accountable to service levels.

Lead ERP-related projects end to end - requirements gathering, scoping, timelines, testing, training, and go-live - keeping stakeholders informed and on track.

Coordinate new EDI trading-partner setups and system changes across customers, suppliers, the consulting partner, and internal teams; document business requirements and coordinate testing.

Own status reporting for IT leadership: project progress, open issues, vendor performance, and upcoming decisions

ERP Application Support (grow as you go)

Serve as the internal point of contact for Plex questions and issues; triage, resolve what you can, and manage the rest through Plex support or our consulting partner to resolution.

Handle day-to-day administration: user access and security roles, screen and module configuration, and master data integrity (items, BOMs, customers, suppliers, pricing) - with training and partner support as you ramp up.

Follow and help improve our change control process: documenting, testing, and getting approval for system changes before release.

Support recurring business processes in Plex, such as period-end activities and annual pricing uploads, in partnership with supply chain and finance.

Making Plex Work Better for Everyone

Build internal Plex knowledge through training, documentation, and hands-on help so everyday answers don't bottleneck in IT.

Create and lead a "Plex Champion" network of department super-users who provide first-line support and feed improvement ideas back to IT.

Help drive the migration from Plex Classic to the Plex UX interface: plan by function, coordinate testing, and manage cutover with the business.

Write and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and system documentation as you learn - turning your own ramp-up into resources for others.

What We're Looking For

A genuine passion for business applications - you enjoy figuring out how systems work, making them work better, and helping people use them well.

Working knowledge of a few Plex ERP modules (any mix - production, inventory, shipping, quality, purchasing, etc.), OR hands-on experience with another manufacturing ERP (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, QAD, IQMS/DELMIAworks, or similar) and confidence you can learn Plex.

Strong project management skills: you can juggle multiple workstreams, keep vendors and stakeholders on schedule, and follow through to completion.

Experience managing or coordinating third-party vendors, consultants, or service providers - or clear aptitude and eagerness to own that relationship.

Familiarity with manufacturing operations (production, inventory, shipping/receiving, purchasing, or order-to-cash) from any role - IT, operations, supply chain, quality, or finance.

Strong communication skills with both technical teams and shop-floor/business users, and good documentation habits.

Comfort with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).

Self-starter mindset: able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with minimal direction, and to say "I don't know yet, but I'll find out."

Nice to Have (Not Required)

Deep Plex expertise - if you're already a Plex pro, we'd be thrilled; you'll just hit the ground running faster

Plex Classic-to-UX migration exposure

SQL skills for data lookups and reporting

EDI familiarity (850/855/856/810 documents, trading-partner setups)

Experience with planning tools (e.g., DemandCaster) or BI environments (e.g., Power BI, Snowflake)

Project management certification (CAPM, PMP, or Agile)

Experience building super-user programs or delivering end-user training

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience

How We'll Set You Up to Succeed

Structured ramp-up: Plex training resources, time to learn, and realistic expectations - we know expertise builds over months, not weeks.

An experienced consulting partner already in place for complex EDI and technical work - you manage the relationship; they handle the deep technical lifting while you learn.

Engaged super-users across departments who know their processes and want a strong IT partner.

Support from the Director of IT and a clear growth path toward full ownership of the ERP environment.

What Success Looks Like in Year One

You're the trusted first stop for Plex questions and issues, resolving routine items yourself and managing the rest to resolution.

The consulting partner relationship runs smoothly: clear priorities, work delivered on schedule, and no surprises.

At least one meaningful project delivered end to end - a new trading-partner setup, a process improvement, or a step in the Classic-to-UX migration.

Documentation exists for the recurring processes you've learned, so knowledge doesn't live only in your head.

A Plex Champion network is taking shape, with named super-users starting to handle first-line questions.

Not Sure You Qualify? Apply Anyway.

If you're reading this thinking "I love working with business systems and I'm a strong project manager, but I've only touched a couple of Plex modules" - you are exactly who this posting is for. We'd rather hire the right aptitude and attitude and build the expertise together than wait for a unicorn. Tell us what you know, what you've managed, and what you're excited to learn.
