Job Description

The Manufacturing Project Planner is responsible for the creation, maintenance, governance, and quality of manufacturing master data within enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, MES, PLM). This role ensures accurate, consistent, and timely data that supports production planning, procurement, costing, inventory management, quality, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Master Data Management:

 --Create, maintain, and control manufacturing master data, including:

      Bills of Material (BOMs)

      Routings and work centers

      Item masters (manufactured, purchased, phantom)

      Production versions and planning parameters

  --Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across ERP/MRP and related systems.

  --Process engineering changes (ECRs/ECOs) and ensure timely and accurate implementation in systems.

Data Governance & Quality:

  • Establish and enforce master data standards, naming conventions, and governance rules.
  • Conduct routine audits and data quality checks to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support root cause analysis for planning, costing, and execution issues linked to master data errors.
  • Document master data procedures and work instructions.

Cross-Functional Support:

  • Partner with Engineering to validate BOMs and routings before production release.
  • Support Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Planning teams with accurate data for production scheduling, capacity planning, and material availability.
  • Collaborate with Quality to ensure data supports regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact for master-data related questions and issues.

Systems & Continuous Improvement:

  • Support ERP/MRP system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements related to master data.
  • Assist in data migration, cleansing, and validation during system projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data workflows, reduce manual effort, and increase automation.
  • Participate in lean, digital manufacturing, and operational excellence initiatives.
Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, information systems, business, or a related field.

5+ years of experience with manufacturing master data.

Strong understanding of ERP systems/environment (SAP, S/4HANA).

Demonstrated experience in project management, BOM Structures and routings, manufacturing processes and work centers.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.

Proficient in Microsoft excel (pivot tables, lookups, data validation).

Preferred:

Experience in complex manufacturing (aerospace, automotive, industrial, or regulated environments).

Knowledge of MES or PLM systems.

Experience working in engineering change management processes.

Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma exposure.

Experience supporting ERP implementations or large-scale data cleanup initiatives.
