Responsibilities and Expectations: 

The Operations Manager plays a critical role in driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction at IPS. This high-impact position requires a dynamic and results-oriented leader who can effectively manage all aspects of production, including personnel, equipment, and materials, while fostering a high-performance culture.

Operational Excellence:

  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of operations, including safety, quality, productivity, and employee relations.
  • Oversee the deployment and adherence to the operational framework, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry best practices.
  • Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of the Continuous Improvement Process Solution (CIPS).

Production Management:

  • Manage and direct hourly workers, including supervisors, leads, and technicians, to achieve daily and long-term production goals while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate labor requirements to support production demands, including tear downs, inspections, repairs, and rush jobs.
  • Manage labor costs effectively, including overtime and vacation planning.
  • Ensure the availability and proper maintenance of all necessary equipment and materials.

Customer Focus:

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through effective communication and proactive issue resolution.
  • Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment, meeting all customer requirements, including inspections, data collection, and delivery deadlines.
  • Coordinate and participate in customer job inspections and service center certifications.
  • Drive improvements in key customer-facing metrics, such as quality, time to quote, and on-time delivery.

Quality & Safety:

  • Champion a strong safety culture by actively participating in and leading safety audits, incident investigations, training programs, and hazard assessments (JHAs).
  • Lead the development and implementation of quality control processes and procedures, including documentation, work instructions, and process standards.
  • Support the team in addressing high-risk jobs and ensuring adherence to all quality and safety regulations.

Team Leadership:

  • Foster a positive work environment that values teamwork, open communication, and employee engagement.
  • Provide guidance and support to the shop floor team through servant leadership, actively listening to employee feedback and addressing their concerns.
  • Develop and evaluate employee performance, providing regular feedback and opportunities for growth.

Financial Performance:

  • Monitor and control labor, material, and other operational costs to ensure profitability.
  • Contribute to the development and achievement of department budgets and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Qualifications and Competencies: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Technology or Manufacturing Management preferred
  • 10+ years of total production or maintenance management experience or equivalent
  • Proven experience as an Operations Manager or in a similar leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of machining and mechanical repair of rotating electrical components
  • Generator and/or motor repair or related product lines preferred
  • MS Office Suite and production MRP system experience
  • Exposure to continuous improvement operating cultures (Lean, 6S, Safety, High Engagement Work Systems) preferred
