Position Overview
Join our team as a Surgery Office Assistant who contributes to the success of a high-performing organization committed to delivering superior care and exceptional service. Performs a range of administrative and customer service tasks, providing valuable support to the hospital.
Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky, is an internationally recognized leader in equine medicine, combining cutting-edge technology with a collaborative team dedicated to advancing equine health and performance.
Key Responsibilities
The primary role and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
TELEPHONE & RECEPTION
  • Provide primary telephone support for the Surgery department; screening and directing emergency and non-emergency related calls appropriately throughout the department.
  • Greet and assist clients and visitors.
  • Assist clients with directions to other locations on campus.
  • Distribute departmental mail.
  • Prepare correspondence and transcribe reports.
  • Preparation of sales reports.
  • Assist with monthly billing.
  • Filing correspondence and patient files.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate stock of departmental office supplies.
  • Assist with coordinating maintenance for departmental office equipment.
  • Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the reception area.
  • Report any required repairs to appropriate personnel.
  • Special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Capable of multi-tasking and utilizing multi-line phone system
  • Excellent computer skills - proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Efficient typing skills.
  • Medical terminology and knowledge of the Equine and Thoroughbred Industries a plus.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills necessary.
  • Organizational skills
  • Effective communicator
  • Innovative, motivated, pleasant personality
  • Ability to lift more than 10 lbs
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position
