How to Get a Job in Equine Nutrition
The primary qualifications for getting a job in equine nutrition depend on the role, but they usually include a bachelor's degree in a field like animal science or veterinary medicine and several years of experience in the equine industry. Equine nutritionists often carry up to 50 pounds, so physical stamina is important. You also need computer proficiency, familiarity with horse anatomy, and the skills to interact with horses and clients at trade shows and other industry events. This job mixes science and marketing, so the more experience you have with both, the easier it is to get a job in equine nutrition. Interpersonal skills are also important for convincing potential customers to try your products. Fulfilling the responsibilities and duties of a job in equine nutrition requires flexibility, creativity, and often, the ability to travel as needed.
