Opportunity:
RN - ER
Job Details:
• Work in a 12-bed emergency department unit, utilizing hallway beds as needed
• Night shift staffing structure: 5 RNs and 1 paramedic until 2300, dropping to 4 RNs and 1 paramedic at 0100, then 3 RNs and 1 paramedic from 0100 to 0700
• Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics with a majority of adult patients
• Patient ratios are acuity-based at 1:5, up to 1:6 rarely
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers considered on a case-by-case basis
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, and de-escalation training (MOAB or CPI)
• General ED skillset required including chest tubes, drips, IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Charting system: Epic; equipment includes GE monitors, Alaris, and Pyxis
• CNA support available at a 1:12 ratio; Lead RN functions as a resource nurse with no patient load
• Respiratory therapy and hospitalist available in-house 24/7
• Bedside and nursing station telemetry available; no telemetry technician
• RNs perform phlebotomy at the bedside
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday scheduling varies based on unit need
• Time off requests can generally be approved up to 7 days, subject to department staffing needs
• Orientation consists of 1 shift on the unit to learn the flow
• No floating required

This facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with 69 total beds, providing comprehensive emergency and specialty care to the community. The emergency department operates with 12 beds including triage, supported by a robust team of clinical professionals available around the clock. The facility is equipped with modern technology and staffing resources to ensure high-quality patient care across a wide range of medical conditions and acuity levels.
