General Purpose of Job:

Plan, develop, implement, direct and manage all work-flow processes of the Radiology Department. Provide technical leadership. Develop management reports and statistical data to improve operations and comply with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Records and reports quality improvement plans in cooperation with radiologists, Hospital Medical Staff and Health System performance improvement department.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

  • Coaches and directs the activities of the technical and clerical associates, to provide quality patient care. Oversees the implementation of all departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assists in preparation and management of operating and capital equipment budget.
  • Plans and directs departmental in-services (annually) to include infection control, fire/disaster policies, quality improvement, goals and objectives of hospital and department.
  • Provides management reports by assuring proper usage of Epic Radiant by technologists. Initiates the physician interpretation of radiographic examinations through Epic Radiant.
  • Provides a safe and healthy environment for the associates in Radiology. Works with the Bio-Medical department to maintain the operation of imaging equipment.
  • Provides management reports to the radiology director and adjusts operational hours and supplies accordingly.
  • Recruits technical staff. Evaluates technical staff.
  • Interview and investigates alternate sources of supply vendors for best pricing.
  • Management oversight for multiple locations within the Health System.

Job Requirements
General Requirements
* Must be registered (certified) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Work Experience
* Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
Education
* Bachelor Degree in Business or Health Care Administration and/or equivalent education and experience required.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of PACS and Epic Radiant. * Strong customer service skills. * Coaching and mentoring skills. * Ability to problem solve and identify solutions. * Ability to manage work-flow processes. * Effective communication skills to interact with associates, physicians and visitors. * Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
