What is an Epic Go Live Support?
An Epic Go Live Support job involves assisting healthcare staff during the implementation of a new Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. Support personnel help end-users navigate workflows, troubleshoot issues, and ensure a smooth transition to the new system. They provide at-the-elbow support, answer questions, and escalate technical problems as needed. This role requires strong communication skills, familiarity with Epic software, and the ability to work in fast-paced clinical environments.
What does an Epic Go Live Support do?
During a Go Live event, Epic Go Live Support staff are often on-site or virtually accessible, assisting end users like nurses, physicians, and administrative personnel as they begin using the new or updated Epic system. Days are fast-paced and involve troubleshooting issues, answering user questions, offering one-on-one or group guidance, and tracking common problems for escalation. Teamwork is essential since you'll collaborate closely with other support staff, IT teams, and possibly Epic representatives to ensure a seamless transition. This hands-on role offers valuable exposure to clinical workflows, healthcare technology, and opportunities to build relationships across multiple departments.
What skills and qualifications are needed for Epic Go Live Support?
To thrive as an Epic Go Live Support professional, you need expertise in healthcare workflows, a solid understanding of the Epic EHR system, and preferably experience with clinical or technical support roles. Familiarity with Epic applications, user provisioning, and certification (such as Epic Credentialed Trainer or Analyst) is highly valuable. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and patience help you provide effective guidance and reassurance to end users during high-pressure Go Live events. These skills ensure smooth system adoption, quick issue resolution, and minimal disruption to critical healthcare operations.
