Epic Go Live Contract information

What is an Epic Go Live Contract?

Epic Go Live Contract jobs refer to temporary positions that support healthcare organizations during the implementation and launch (or 'Go Live') of the Epic electronic health records (EHR) system. Professionals in these roles assist with training staff, providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a smooth transition to the new Epic software. These contracts typically last a few weeks to a few months and require familiarity with Epic systems and healthcare workflows. They are ideal for individuals with previous Epic experience or certifications looking for short-term, high-impact work in healthcare IT.

What can I expect during a typical day as an Epic Go Live Contract consultant?

As an Epic Go Live Contract consultant, your typical day involves providing on-the-floor support to end-users as a new Epic system module is launched. You'll answer user questions, troubleshoot workflow issues, document feedback for optimization, and escalate unresolved technical problems to the appropriate teams. This role is highly collaborative—working closely with nurses, physicians, IT staff, and Epic analysts to ensure a smooth transition and minimal disruption to patient care. Flexibility is key, as shifts often include early mornings, evenings, or weekends to align with hospital go-live schedules.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Epic Go Live contractor?

To thrive as an Epic Go Live Contractor, you need comprehensive knowledge of Epic EHR systems, clinical workflows, and usually an Epic certification in relevant modules. Familiarity with Epic applications, ticketing systems, and on-site support tools is typically required. Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability help contractors effectively support clinicians and staff during system transitions. These skills ensure minimal disruption, rapid issue resolution, and successful user adoption during critical Go Live periods.

What is the difference between Epic Go Live Contract vs Epic Implementation Specialist?

The Epic Go Live Contract focuses on managing the deployment phase of Epic systems, often involving temporary, project-specific work. In contrast, an Epic Implementation Specialist provides ongoing support, training, and optimization after go-live. Both roles require Epic certifications and are integral to successful system adoption in healthcare settings, but they differ mainly in scope and duration.
