Summary:

The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is an emerging data professional who designs, develops and implements analytics tools and data solutions. This individual understands business data needs, gathers requirements, analyzes data and develops robust analytics solutions for advanced projects, self-service analytics and business user consumption. The Business Intelligence Developer interfaces with clinical, financial and operational business leaders, subject matter experts as well as Information Services applications teams to design reports, dashboards and analytics that accurately reflect business workflows and drive action. The BI Developer plans, designs, architects, develops, tests and implements new BI solutions as well as troubleshoots, monitors and maintains existing BI solutions. The BI Developer writes relational and multidimensional database queries that meet performance objectives and business use cases. The BI Developer is familiar with data warehousing design and development methodologies. The Business Intelligence Developer ideally has experience with leading healthcare technology systems such as EMR (Epic), Claims processing (Epic), ERP (Workday), CRM, cloud based data platforms (Azure, Snowflake) etc.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business or related/relevant degree AND minimum of 2 years of experience as a BI Developer, Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Operations Analyst, Data Engineer, Database Developer, and/or Technical/Systems/Application Analyst OR Minimum of 4 years of experience as a BI Developer, Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Operations Analyst, Data Engineer, Database Developer, and/or Technical/Systems/Application Analyst.

  • Experience with business intelligence tools: Microsoft BI stack, SAP Business Objects, TIBCO Spotfire, Tableau, SAS, Crystal Reports, etc.

  • Experience programming in SQL, Python, R, SAS or equivalent programming languages.

  • Experience writing relational and multidimensional database queries, database object development as well as data warehousing design and methodologies.

  • Demonstrated experience operating efficiently within the Business Intelligence development lifecycle.

  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements gathering, analysis, and verification.

  • Knowledge of planning, designing, architecting, developing and supporting BI solutions.

  • Experience debugging, monitoring, and troubleshooting BI solutions.

  • Experience creating and deploying highly visible reports/dashboards/analytics for business use.

  • Able to exercise independent judgment and take action.

  • Must be available for support by pager or telephone 24 hours per day x 7 days per week.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare, provider and/or managed care/insurance environment preferred.

  • Holds current Epic certifications: Epic Cogito, Caboodle Data Model, Clarity Data Model, and at least one of the following - Clinical/Patient Access/Revenue Cycle Data Model

  • Experience utilizing, developing and supporting Epic Cogito tools, including Radar Dashboards, Reporting Workbench Reports, Radar SQL Metrics, Crystal Reports, SlicerDicer, Analytics Catalog, registries, etc. preferred.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

  • Epic certification may be required for the position based on area focus.

  • Must hold or obtain Epic certification within six (6) months of employment (including one allowed test retake).

  • Required Epic certifications for BI Developers supporting Epic include: Epic Cogito, Caboodle Data Model, Clarity Data Model, and one of the following: Clinical/Patient Access/Revenue Cycle Data Model.

Preferred:

  • The required certifications above as well as additional relevant Cogito certifications or proficiencies such as Clinical/Patient Access/Revenue Cycle Data Models, SlicerDicer Custom Build Badge, Radar SQL Metrics Badge, Cogito SQL Badge, Caboodle-Clarity Development, Cogito Tools Administration, and/or other relevant Epic application certification(s) Microsoft SQL certification, Python certification and/or BI/analytics tool certification (Power BI, SAS, etc) a plus.
