Position Description:

Would you like to have a career with a collaborative, diverse, and dynamic mining company? We have an exciting opportunity for you!

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Capital Projects team.  The successful candidate will provide leadership and technical oversight of all engineering activities across the North America projects portfolio. The role is accountable for engineering deliverables from study phases through detailed design and construction support, ensuring designs are safe, constructible, cost-effective, and aligned with project objectives, schedules, and corporate standards. The role manages internal engineering teams and external engineering consultants and EPCM partners.

At Barrick, our vision is to be the world's most valued gold mining business by finding, developing, and operating the best assets with the best people. We are committed to a safe work environment sending every person home safe and healthy every day and leaving a sustainable legacy on our host communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with company health, safety, and environmental standards and applicable regulatory requirements (including MSHA).
  • Lead engineering delivery across the BGNA projects portfolio, covering process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, and instrumentation/controls disciplines.
  • Manage engineering consultants and EPC/EPCM partners, including scope, schedules, budgets, deliverable quality, and performance.
  • Ensure designs comply with company standards, applicable codes, and MSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Drive constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews with site construction, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction and commissioning, including resolution of technical queries, design changes, and non-conformances.
  • Manage technical change control, design risk registers, and interface coordination across project packages.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables, vendor data, and as-built documentation.
  • Support project estimating, scheduling, and cost control with reliable engineering inputs and progress measurement.
  • Coordinate engineering input into permitting and regulatory submissions as required.
  • Build, lead, and develop the site-based engineering team.
  • Report engineering status, risks, and issues to project leadership.
  • Based in Elko, Nevada, with substantial time at BGNA project sites. Site work involves exposure to active construction and mining environments requiring adherence to site safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Process/Metallurgical, or related discipline); professional registration (PE or equivalent) preferred
  • Minimum 10-15 years of engineering experience on mining or minerals processing capital projects, including 5+ years in an engineering leadership role preferred
  • Strong experience in brownfield/site-based project environments and construction-phase engineering support preferred
  • Experience managing engineering consultants and EPC/EPCM contracts preferred
  • Working knowledge of applicable North American codes, standards, and regulatory requirements preferred
  • Strong technical leadership with practical, construction-focused judgment required
  • Effective management of consultants and multidisciplinary teams required
  • Collaborative working style with construction, operations, and maintenance stakeholders required
  • Structured approach to change control, document management, and design assurance preferred
  • Clear communication and reporting capability required

What We Can Offer You

  • A comprehensive compensation package including a competitive medical, dental, and vision plan with national provider networks, a 401k retirement plan with employer contribution AND employer match, paid time off, company-sponsored medical clinics, company match share purchase program, and much more!
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
  • Endless opportunities to grow and learn with industry colleagues.
  • Access to a variety of career opportunities across the organization.
