Job description

Overview
Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Infra-red (IR) Systems Integration Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support an advanced air platform program focused on achieving and sustaining national air dominance. As part of MTSI's commitment to delivering innovative engineering services and technology solutions, this role will play a pivotal part in shaping cutting-edge Electro-Optic and Infrared (EO/IR) mission capabilities that directly support the nation's defense and security.
The successful candidate will provide systems engineering expertise supporting the development, integration, and transition of advanced EO/IR sensor technologies for operation in complex and contested environments.
Responsibilities
The IR Integration SME will provide technical leadership and systems engineering support for EO/IR sensor development and integration efforts.
  • Provide oversight and technical management of advanced EO/IR sensor development for mission system applications
  • Support the development, integration, and test of EO/IR hardware and software, including:
  • Infrared Search and Track (IRST)
  • Video and image processing algorithms
  • EO/IR electronic countermeasures
  • Other mission capabilities across the EO/IR spectrum
  • Support EO/IR kill chain analysis and integration across platforms and mission systems
  • Contribute to systems engineering activities including requirements definition, architecture development, integration, and verification
  • Support open architecture implementations and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approaches
  • Participate in platform integration and testing and verification of subsystems for performance and functionality
  • Lead and support Government and industry teams through technical planning, design reviews, test reviews, and technical assessments
  • Develop and deliver technical briefings to a wide range of audiences, including senior technical and leadership stakeholders
  • Collaborate with U.S. Government and industry partner organizations to support joint mission capability development

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 15+ years of related experience is required.
  • Experience supporting EO/IR sensor systems and associated hardware and software development
  • Familiarity with EO/IR integration, test, and verification activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing technical content to senior leadership
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, "tip of the spear" environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to evolving mission and technical requirements

Desired:
  • Familiarity with advanced EO/IR kill chains and mission system integration
  • Experience with open architecture frameworks and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies
  • Experience with EO/IR electronic countermeasures and advanced image and video processing techniques
  • Experience with Government Reference Architecture (GRAs) and integration into operational weapon systems (desired, not required)
  • Familiarity with agile development and systems engineering tools such as Atlassian Suite and Cameo

Clearance & Travel Requirements
  • Active TS/SCI
  • This position is a Special Access Program (SAP) role and requires work in a vault/SCIF environment
  • TDY travel approximately 20% (about one trip per month)
