Job Summary:
The Senior Environmental Services Worker Is responsible for maintaining the daily activities of the department by monitoring and coordinating basic functions. Is responsible for activities of environmental services employees according to schedule and maintenance of all production, sanitation, and safety standards.
Reports to: Supervisor, Environmental Services

How you'll contribute: 
A Environmental Services Aide who excels at this role: 

  • Cleans patient rooms and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing bed linens and sanitizing all surfaces. 
  • Follows the defined cleaning method and room cleaning inspections.
  • Follows policies and procedures on patient isolation.
  • Stocks paper items and other supplies in patient rooms as necessary or designated.
  • Maintains cart and equipment in clean, working condition and stores in appropriate storage area when finished with shift.
  • Correctly identifies and appropriately uses cleaning chemicals. 
  • Assures all cleaning chemicals are properly diluted and labeled.
  • Answers telephone and patient requests in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Takes appropriate actions to investigate root cause of all discrepancies and recommends solutions to supervisor to prevent future occurrences. 
  • Consults management to discuss departmental concerns or problems.
  • Monitors employees for compliance to all departmental and organizational policies and procedures. 
  • Consults with supervisor when non-compliance is observed.
  • Ensures that all services are delivered on time and without interruption.
  • Utilizes all equipment and supplies safely.
  • Cross trains in order to perform all assigned duties required by the department.
  • Assists with orientation and training of others as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. 
  • Ability to read, write, and speak basic English.
